Gut mit Kalorien versorgt, machen wir uns auf in die Stadt, wir haben ein volles Programm!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well stocked with calories, we start off into the city, we have a full agenda!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir werden uns dabei hoffentlich besser benehmen als das Passauische Kriegsvolk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope we will behave better than the warrior tribe from Passau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00dcber die Karlsbr\u00fccke sind wir \u201eeingefallen\u201c, hier seht Ihr eine Statue von St. Vitus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across the Charles Bridge we \u201cinvaded\u201d, here you see a statue of St. Vitus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir hatten Gl\u00fcck, dass wir so fr\u00fch dran waren. Die ganzen H\u00e4ndler und Touristen kamen erst noch, und wir konnten auf die Weise auch Details an den vielen Statuen in Ruhe betrachten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were lucky that we were there so early. All the vendors and tourists had not arrived yet, and thus we had the chance to unhurriedly look at the details of the many statues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und warum sind wir so fr\u00fch los? Weil wir in die B\u00fccherei wollen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And why did we leave so early? Because we want to go to the library!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denn da gibt es einen magischen B\u00fccherturm, in den man hineinsehen kann …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because there they have a magic tower of books into which you can take a look \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gut, dass wir so fr\u00fch kamen, schon stand da die erste Horde Sch\u00fcler … wir sind also weiter. In Prag gibt es so viele prachtvolle Fassaden zu sehen. An dieser hier findet man eine Krone, die wohl eine Kopie der Krone sein soll, die 1602 hier in Prag f\u00fcr Kaiser Rudolf II. angefertigt wurde und die 1804 die Kaiserkrone von \u00d6sterreich wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good thing that we came so early, already the first bunch of pupils is here \u2026 so we move along. In Prague you can see so many gorgeous facades. At this one you find a crown that seems to be a copy of the one that 1602 was produced for Emperor Rudolf II here in Prague and which 1804 became the imperial crown of Austria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hier noch eine tolle Hauswand, und zwar am alten Rathaus. \u00dcber dem Fenster seht Ihr das Prager Wappen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here another great house wall, this is part of the old Town Hall. Above the window you see the Prague coat of arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rathaus? Prag? Da war doch was? Ja nat\u00fcrlich, die astronomische Uhr aus dem Jahr 1410.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Town Hall? Prague? Doesn\u2019t that ring a bell? Yes, of course, there is the astronomical clock from 1410.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vor der ist bei Tageslicht \u2013 glaube ich \u2013 immer Touristenandrang, egal, wann man kommt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In front of that during daylight \u2013 I think \u2013 there are always hordes of tourists, no matter when you show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Den Meridian \u00fcbersehen daf\u00fcr viele. Fr\u00fcher stand hier auch eine Mariens\u00e4ule, deren Schatten immer mittags die Meridianlinie traf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand many overlook the Meridian. In olden times, there was also a Marian Column here, the shadow of which hit the Meridian line always at noon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ein St\u00fcck weiter \u2013 auch wenig beachtet \u2013 dieses Denkmal, das Jan Hus hier 1915 gesetzt wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bit further one \u2013 also not noticed much \u2013 this monument that was erected here 1915 to commemorate Jan Hus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hier das Storch-Haus, das 1896\u20131897 f\u00fcr den Buchh\u00e4ndler Alexander \u0160torch erbaut wurde. Die Malerei zeigt den b\u00f6hmischen Landesheiligen Wenzel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here the \u201eStorch\u201c house which 1896-1897 was erected for the bookseller Alexander \u0160torch. The painting shows the Bohemian patron saint Wenceslaus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weiter gehts: Der \u201cUmhang des Gewissens\u201c, eine Skulptur der K\u00fcnstlerin Anna Chrom\u00fd. Man kann sie in Sylt sehen, in Salzburg, und eben hier vor dem Opernhaus, wo Mozarts Don Giovanni uraufgef\u00fchrt. Diese Oper und Jedermann von Hugo von Hofmannsthal waren die Inspirationen f\u00fcr die Skulptur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On we go: The \u201eCloak of Conscience\u201d, a sculpture by the artist Anna Chrom\u00fd. You can see it on Sylt, in Salzburg and here in front of the opera house, where Mozart\u2019s Don Giovanni premiered. This opera and Jedermann by Hugo von Hofmannsthal were the inspirations for the sculpture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beim Weitergehen sind wir an einer Sparkasse vorbeigekommen. Auf unseren Reisen haben wir gelernt, dass Banken und Postfilialen oft in tollen R\u00e4umlichkeiten zu finden sind, also sind wir rein. Schon direkt hinter der T\u00fcr standen zwei Skulpturen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we walked on, we passed a Sparkasse. On our travels we did learn that banks and post offices can often be found in gorgeous halls, so we went in. Right behind the door already, there were two sculptures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir sind dann weiter, aber der Herr am Empfang hat uns darauf hingewiesen: wir d\u00fcrfen keine Fotos machen. Er hat uns stattdessen ein Prospekt mit Bildern mitgegeben. Naja, dann gehen wir wieder 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then walked further, but the gentleman at the reception told us: we are not allowed to take any pictures. Instead he then gave us a little brochure with pictures. Okay, so then we leave again 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auf dem \u201ePalast des Wiener Bankvereins\u201c (erbaut 1906-1908) stehen diese Jugenstil-Figuren. 1910 erhielt der Architekt Josef Zasche f\u00fcr seinen Entwurf den Preis f\u00fcr das beste und modernste Geb\u00e4ude in ganz \u00d6sterreich-Ungarn im Zeitraum 1900-1910.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of the \u201cPalace of the Vienna Association of Banks\u201d (built 1906-1908) these Jugendstil sculptures stand. 1910 the architect Josef Zasche received for his design the award for the best and most modern building in all of Austria-Hungary for the years 1900-1910.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh no, a huge toy store! But we did not empty the shop with our purchases!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raumfahrende B\u00e4ren gibt es hier …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Space-traveling bears you find here \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 und auch gr\u00f6\u00dfere Besucher aus dem All.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

… and also bigger visitors from space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wieder weiter durch die Stadt \u2013 hab ich schon erw\u00e4hnt, dass es hier von tollen Fassaden wimmelt?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us walk on through the city \u2013 did I mention that it teems with spectacular facades?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ein Detail am wundersch\u00f6nen Prager Gemeindehaus \u2013 hier gibt es Konzerte, Ausstellungen und Verantstaltungen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One detail of the gorgeous Prague Parish Hall \u2013 here on offer are concerts, exhibitions and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daneben steht der Pulverturm. Und seht Ihr die Schirme?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next to it is the Powder Gate Tower. And do you see the umbrellas?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da essen wir jetzt!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is where we will eat now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wobei man auch innen sehr nett gesessen w\u00e4re …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if also inside you would have sat very nicely \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nebenan im Gemeindehaus ist schon alleine der Eingangsbereich sehr sehenswert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next door in the Parish Hall even just the entrance area is well worth seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noch eine sch\u00f6ne Fassade f\u00fcr diesen Eintrag, der Rest des Tages kommt im n\u00e4chsten Eintrag, sonst wird das zuviel!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
