Das war die Ank\u00fcndigung f\u00fcr die Tour, die wir gestern gemacht haben, und man hat uns nicht zu viel versprochen!!! Um 8:30 war Start der Tour, und dies war unser Gef\u00e4hrt: Torben und ich sa\u00dfen hinten auf den dort installierten Sitzen.<\/p>\n

That was the slogan for the tour that we did yesterday, and they did not promise too much!!! The start of the tour was 8:30, and this was our vehicle: Torben and I sat on the back, on the seats that had been installed there.<\/p>\n

Die Sitze waren bequem \u2026 aber das hat nicht geholfen. Hier ein paar Beispiele der \u201eStra\u00dfen\u201c, \u00fcber die wir gehoppelt sind, nat\u00fcrlich immer so schnell wie irgend m\u00f6glich. Erinnert sich noch jemand, dass wir Sonnenbrand haben? R\u00fcckseite der Beine … Tja.<\/p>\n

The seating was comfortable … but that did not help. Here a few examples of the \u201cstreets\u201d over which we bounced, always as fast as possible, of course. Does anybody remember that we have sunburns? Backs of our legs \u2026 Well.<\/p>\n

Aber es gab so viel zu sehen, dass wir die Schmerzen schnell vergessen haben.<\/p>\n

But there was so much to see that we forgot the pain in a hurry.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Erster Halt war beim Vulkan, in der \u201eAsche-Ebene\u201d. Hier wurden wir nett begr\u00fc\u00dft, mit Kokosnuss-Drinks und netten T\u00e4nzen.<\/p>\n

First stop was near the volcano, in the \u201cash plain\u201d. Here we were warmly welcomed, with coconut drinks and pretty dances.<\/p>\n

Dann gings zur \u201eH\u00f6hle\u201d. Unter der geh\u00e4rteten Vulkanasche wurde die gegraben, damit ein Krieger darin Wache halten konnte. Hier seht Ihr sein \u201eBett\u201c.<\/p>\n

Then we went to the \u201ccave\u201c. Under the hardened volcano ash it was dug, so that a warrior could do guard duty from there. Here you see his \u201cbed\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ein St\u00fcck weiter weg: Fu\u00dfabdr\u00fccke in der Oberfl\u00e4che, die seitdem steinhart geworden ist.<\/p>\n

A bit further away: Foot prints in the surface, which now is rock solid.<\/p>\n

Und hier seht Ihr jetzt die Asche-Ebene. Wundersch\u00f6n! Die Farben sind atemberaubend.<\/p>\n

And here now you see the ash plain. Beautiful! The colours are breathtaking.<\/p>\n

Wir sind dann weiter gefahren, um den Vulkan herum.<\/p>\n

We then drove on, around the volcano.<\/p>\n

Unser n\u00e4chster Halt war das Kannibalen-Dorf, wo wir standesgem\u00e4\u00df empfangen wurden.<\/p>\n

Our next stop was the cannibal village, where we were welcomed accordingly.<\/p>\n

Einer der \u201eKannibalen\u201d hat uns dann herumgef\u00fchrt und uns jede Menge erkl\u00e4rt.<\/p>\n

One of the \u201ccannibals\u201c then lead us around and explained loads of things to us.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Vieles wurde uns vorgef\u00fchrt. Zum Beispiel, dass Kinder als K\u00f6der genutzt wurden.<\/p>\n

Much was acted out for us. For example that kids were used as bait.<\/p>\n

Wir haben Erlaubnis erhalten, die H\u00fctte des H\u00e4uptlings zu betreten. Hier ist der Beweis:<\/p>\n

We got permission to access the chief\u2019s hut. Here is the proof:<\/p>\n

Nach dem Besuch beim H\u00e4uptling (keine Fotos erlaubt), haben wir eine Menge \u00fcber die Verwendung von Kokosn\u00fcssen gelernt. Erst wurde eine \u201egesch\u00e4lt\u201c.<\/p>\n

After our visit with the chief (no photos allowed), we learned a lot about the use of coconuts. To start with, one was \u201cpeeled\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dann wurde mit den Fasern ein Feuer gestartet.<\/p>\n

Then with the fibers, a fire was started.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Das hat zumindest einen der j\u00fcngeren Krieger in Verz\u00fcckung versetzt.<\/p>\n

That made at least one of the younger warriors giddy with happiness.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dann hat ein grimmiger Krieger etwas Kokosnuss f\u00fcr uns geschabt.<\/p>\n

Then one fierce warrior grated some coconut for us.<\/p>\n

Und nachdem wir die gegessen hatten, gab es noch ein sch\u00f6nes Abschiedsfoto.<\/p>\n

And after we had eaten that, before leaving, we got a nice photo done.<\/p>\n

Das Wasser ist wirklich hei\u00df! Wir waren wieder einmal in einer geo-thermalen Wunderecke. Auf dem Weg zur n\u00e4chsten Attraktion an diesem Strand gab es frische Passionsfr\u00fcchte direkt vom Baum.<\/p>\n

The water really is hot! We were once again in a geothermal wonderland. On the way to the next attraction at that beach there, we first had fresh passion fruit straight from the tree.<\/p>\n

– Oh, und wir haben mal wieder interessante Spinnen entdeckt. \u2013<\/p>\n

– Oh, and once again we discovered interesting spiders. \u2013<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dann kamen wir zu einer Dampf-Kuhle. Fotos von n\u00e4her dran nicht machbar …<\/p>\n

Then we came to a steam pit. Photos from closer up just not feasible \u2026<\/p>\n

Und danach der bunte Lehm. Wir haben die Farben ja wieder mal kaum glauben k\u00f6nnen. Und man muss vorsichtig sein, wenn man den Lehm dann anfassen will, der Boden ist hei\u00df, wenn man ein klein bisschen buddelt.<\/p>\n

And after that the coloured clay. We could once again hardly believe the colours. And you have to be careful if you want to then touch the clay, the ground is hot when you dig just a little bit.<\/p>\n

Traditionell wird der Lehm f\u00fcr Gesichtsbemalung genutzt. Jeder Stamm hat sein eigenes \u201eBild\u201c. (Davon haben wir aber kein Beispiel f\u00fcr Euch)<\/p>\n

Traditionally the clay is used for face painting. Each tribe has its own \u201cpicture\u201d. (But we don\u2019t have an example of that for you)<\/p>\n

Als n\u00e4chstes gab es eine Pause. Erst sind wir an einem wundersch\u00f6nen Strand ein bisschen geschwommen.<\/p>\n

Next we had a little break. First we went for a bit of a swim at a wonderful beach.<\/p>\n

Und dann gabs Mittagessen. Mmmh!<\/p>\n

And then we had lunch. Mmmh!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dann haben wir uns auf den Weg zur Hauptattraktion des Tages gemacht: Zum Vulkan. Aber nat\u00fcrlich gab es unterwegs immer wieder etwas zu sehen …<\/p>\n

Then we got on our way to the main attraction of the day: the volcano. But of course there was still much to see on the way \u2026<\/p>\n

Beim Besucher-Zentrum wurden wir wieder nett begr\u00fc\u00dft:<\/p>\n

At the visitor center we were yet again welcomed nicely:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Nach T\u00e4nzen und Genehmigung des \u00f6rtlichen H\u00e4uptlings gings f\u00fcr die ca. 25 Touristen hinten in ein paar Pick-Ups wieder mal eine tolle Stra\u00dfen entlang … hoch zum Vulkan.<\/p>\n

After dances and the permission of the local chief, the approximately 25 tourists got driven up the next great road, in the backs of some pick-ups \u2026 up to the volcano.<\/p>\n

Immer mal wieder hat es gekracht, und manchmal flog auch etwas hoch.<\/p>\n

Every once in a while there was the sound of explosions, and sometimes you could see things flying.<\/p>\n

Je dunkler es wurde, desto besser hat man gesehen, dass das Lava ist.<\/p>\n

The darker it got, the better you could see that that was lava.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Sp\u00e4ter durften wir an einen anderen Aussichtspunkt, von da war das Panorama noch besser. Und jetzt war es auch noch dunkler.<\/p>\n

Later we were allowed to move to a different lookout, from there the view was even better. And by now it was also darker.<\/p>\n

Toll war es!!! Zwei Stunden durften wir am Vulkan stehen, wir waren uns einig, dass das viel zu kurz war, wir h\u00e4tten gerne noch eine Stunde drangeh\u00e4ngt. Aber danach gab es immerhin auf der R\u00fcckfahrt den Sternenhimmel zu bewundern, mit noch ein bisschen Vulkan …<\/p>\n

It was great! Two hours we were allowed to stand at the volcano, and we agreed that that was much too short. We would gladly have added another hour. But then at least on the drive back, we got to admire the starry sky, with a little bit of volcano \u2026<\/p>\n
