Gestern haben wir unseren ersten Vancouver-Ausflug gemacht. Zuallererst in den Stanley Park. Das ist ein sehr gro\u00dfer Park, mitten in der Stadt. Vancouver liegt ja am Pazifik, und der Stanley Park ist gr\u00f6\u00dftenteils von Wasser umgeben, da gibt es tolle Ausblicke:<\/p>\n

Yesterday we went on our first Vancouver excursion. First of all we went to Stanley Park. That is a rather big park, right in the middle of the city. Now, Vancouver is situated on the Pacific coast, and Stanley Park is surrounded by water for the most part – that makes for great views:<\/p>\n

Oben seht Ihr die Lions Gate Bridge, die r\u00fcber nach Nord- und West-Vancouver f\u00fchrt. Sie wird von L\u00f6wen-Statuen flankiert, aber der Name kommt eigentlich daher, dass man auf die „Lions“ zuf\u00e4hrt, wenn man sie Richtung Norden \u00fcberquert. Die Lions sind zwei Berggipfel.<\/p>\n

Above you see the Lions Gate Bridge that leads to North and West Vancouver. It is adorned with lion statues, but originally the name referred to the „lions“ that you drive towards when you go North across the bridge. The lions are two mountain peaks.<\/p>\n

Hier „Girl in a Wetsuit“ – keine Meerjungfrau! Und komplett mit Vogel … \u00fcberhaupt waren viele gefl\u00fcgelte Tiere unterwegs:<\/p>\n

Here the „Girl in a Wetsuit“ – no mermaid! And complete with a bird … actually, there were a lot of animals with wings about:<\/p>\n

Nicht nur fliegend, auch im oder am Wasser:<\/p>\n

Not just flying, also in or at the water:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Sind die K\u00f6pfchen nicht lustig?<\/p>\n

Don’t they have funny little heads?<\/p>\n

Und noch eine M\u00f6we im Flug, wieder vor der Lions Gate Bridge – so ein bisschen das Thema des Tages …<\/p>\n

And a seagull in flight, once again in front of the Lions Gate Bridge – that was a bit the day’s theme …<\/p>\n

Wir sind aber nicht nur am Wasser entlang gelaufen. Im Park drinnen gibt es eine Menge zu sehen, die Totempf\u00e4hle zum Beispiel:<\/p>\n

But we did not just walk along the waterfront. Deeper in the park, there is a lot to see, the totem poles for example:<\/p>\n

Auch hier – einmal mit Vogel …<\/p>\n

Here as well – once with a bird …<\/p>\n

Oben eine Statue, die erst seit Fr\u00fchling 2015 hier steht: Shore to Shore. Sie zeigt „Portuguese Joe Silvey“, einen portugiesischen Walf\u00e4nger, der 1858 nach Vancouver emigrierte, und seine beiden Frauen.<\/p>\n

Above a statue that has been standing here since spring 2015: Shore to Shore. It shows „Portuguese Joe Silvey“, a Portuguese whaler who emigrated to Vancouver in 1858, and his two wifes.<\/p>\n

Dann doch noch einmal Wasser \ud83d\ude09 mit Blick auf Downtown Vancouver. Das Geb\u00e4ude mit den „Segeln“ ist Canada Place, rechts der Turm ist Harbour Centre, da oben gibt es auch ein Dreh-Restaurant.<\/p>\n

Then once more some water \ud83d\ude09 with a view of downtown Vancouver. The building with the „sails“ is Canada Place, on the right the tower is Harbour Centre, up there you also find a revolving restaurant.<\/p>\n

\u00dcbrigens haben wir nicht nur V\u00f6gel gesehen …<\/p>\n

By the way, we did not only spot birds …<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Ja, und sp\u00e4ter waren wir in West- und Nord-Vancouver unterwegs, und da sind wir dann irgendwann auch unter der Lions Gate Bridge gefahren. Spannende Anblicke!<\/p>\n

Yes, and later we explored West and North Vancouver, and at one time, we actually drove beneath the Lions Gate Bridge. Very interesting views!<\/p>\n

Dann noch ein Tierchen zum Abschluss:<\/p>\n

Then one more animal in closing:<\/p>\n

Davon haben wir etliche gefunden, in Nord-Vancouver auf dem Gehweg, um kleine B\u00e4nke herum … da f\u00fchlen sich die Kleinen offensichtlich wohl …<\/p>\n

Of those we found quite a few, in North Vancouver on the sidewalk, around little benches … it seems that is the environment these little ones like …<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
