So. Ein letzter Blick auf die Kathedrale – diesmal von der Nordseite aus. Wirklich ein beeindruckender Bau!<\/p>\n

Okay. One last look at the cathedral – this time from the North. Really an impressive edifice!<\/p>\n

Aber dann war es Zeit weiterzugehen. Der Nachmittag war schon angebrochen und wir hatten noch eine Menge vor. Als erstes sind wir zum K\u00f6nigspalast nur ein paar Schritte von der Kathedrale:<\/p>\n

But then it was time to move on. The afternoon had already started and there was a lot more on our itinerary. First we walked to the Royal Palace, just a few steps from the cathedral:<\/p>\n

Auch ein sehr imposantes Geb\u00e4ude. Doch wir waren nicht die einzigen, die sich den Palast gerne von innen angesehen h\u00e4tten – die Schlange am Eingang war sehr lang. Also haben wir diesen Punkt von unserer Liste gestrichen, f\u00fcr dieses Mal. Wir wollen ja auch irgendwann wiederkommen …<\/p>\n

Also a very formidable building. But we were not the only people who would have liked to see the palace from the inside – there was a long queue at the entrance. So we skipped this item from our list, for the time being. After all we want to come back some day …<\/p>\n

Und es gibt ja \u00fcberall etwas zu sehen.<\/p>\n

And there is so much to see everywhere.<\/p>\n

Wir sind weitergegangen und haben wieder viele wundersch\u00f6ne H\u00e4user gesehen. In Madrid gibt es wirklich Unmengen von bildsch\u00f6nen Fassaden.<\/p>\n

We then walked on and once again saw many beautiful houses. In Madrid there is really an endless number of gorgeous house fronts to be seen.<\/p>\n

Wir haben auch Don Quijote und Sancho Pansa gesehen:<\/p>\n

We also saw Don Quixote and Sancho Pansa:<\/p>\n

Und dann haben wir endlich unser n\u00e4chstes Ziel erreicht: Der Tempel von Debod.<\/p>\n

And then we finally reached our next destination: The Temple of Debod.<\/p>\n

Dieser Tempel stand tats\u00e4chlich fr\u00fcher in \u00c4gypten. Doch der Bau des Assuan-Staudamms hat viele alte Bauten und arch\u00e4ologischen St\u00e4tten bedroht. Viele Tempel wurden umplatziert, und dieser hier wurde an Spanien gespendet.<\/p>\n

This temple actually used to  be located in Egypt. But the construction of the Aswan Dam threatened many old buildings and archaeological sites. Many temples were relocated, and this one was donated to Spain.<\/p>\n

Normalerweise kann man den Tempel besichtigen, und das hatten wir auch vor.<\/p>\n

Normally one can visit the temple, and we had definitely planned to do so.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Doch war die Tempelanlage geschlossen. Warum genau, das war leider nicht angegeben. Aber ich habe im Internet eine Notiz aus dem Juni gefunden: da war das Gel\u00e4nde wohl immer noch f\u00fcr Besucher geschlossen, und zu dem Zeitpunkt war wohl auch das Wasser abgelassen worden.<\/p>\n

But the temple complex was closed. There was no reason given as to why. But on the internet I found a note from June: it seems at that point in time the area was still closed for visitors, and by then they had even drained the water.<\/p>\n

Immerhin hat man dort aus dem Park einen sch\u00f6nen Blick \u00fcber Madrid. Hier haben wir die Kathedrale noch einmal gesehen:<\/p>\n

But then from the park there you have at least a great view of Madrid. Here we saw the cathedral once again.<\/p>\n

Im gleichen Park findet man auch die Madrid Seilbahn. Die wollten wir unbedingt ausprobieren – aber die war auch zu.<\/p>\n

In the same park one also finds the Madrid Cable Car. We really wanted to try a ride on that – but it was also closed.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Aber – wie oben schon erw\u00e4hnt: wir finden ja immer was zum Anschauen …<\/p>\n

But – as already mentioned above: we always find something to look at …<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Wir haben aber nicht nur Elstern gesehen, sondern auch jede Menge M\u00f6nchssittiche. Die waren wohl beim Nestbau, die V\u00f6gel haben dauernd Zweige gesammelt und sind damit durch die Gegend geflogen.<\/p>\n

But we did not only see magpies, but also a vast number of monk parakeets. It seems they were busy building nests, the birds were constantly collecting little branches and then flew around with them in their beaks.<\/p>\n

Ja, wir hatten dann noch einen netten letzten Abend in Madrid …<\/p>\n

Well, we then spent a very nice last evening in Madrid …<\/p>\n

… und am n\u00e4chsten Morgen stand dann die Abreise an. Da haben wir nur unterwegs noch wundersch\u00f6ne Kirschen gesehen \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

… and the next morning it was time to leave. We only glimpsed a few beautiful cherries on our way \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Und dann sind wir wieder heimgeflogen …<\/p>\n
