So. Im letzten Eintrag haben wir ja schon Gamla Stan erw\u00e4hnt. Da mussten wir nat\u00fcrlich als n\u00e4chstes hin. Und es gab eine Menge zu sehen! Als erstes zeigen wir Euch die Tyska Kyrkan:<\/p>\n

Well. In the last entry we already mentioned Gamla Stan. Of course that was the next stop on our list. And there was lots to see! First of all we show you the Tyska Kyrkan:<\/p>\n

By the way, that means: German church …<\/p>\n

Very German, as you can see \ud83d\ude09 [Fear God! Honour the King!] And here a look at the church itself:<\/p>\n

Innen haben wir – nach den tollen Deckengew\u00f6lben in Madrid – auch hier gleich mal nach oben gesehen. Hm … nicht schlecht, aber sieht ein bisschen aus wie vollgeklebt mit Kaugummi, findet Ihr nicht?<\/p>\n

Inside – after all the great arched roofs in Madrid – here as well we first looked straight up. Hm … not bad, but it looks a bit as if plastered with chewing gum, don’t you think?<\/p>\n

Aber nat\u00fcrlich gab es nicht nur Kirchen zu sehen. Und wir waren selbstverst\u00e4ndlich auch nicht die einzigen, die sich alles angeschaut haben:<\/p>\n

But of course there were not just churches to be seen. And evidently we were not the only ones, who wanted to look at everything:<\/p>\n

Es gab auch tolle Fassaden zu sehen, mit oft sehr sch\u00f6nen Details:<\/p>\n

There were also beautiful house fronts to be seen, with often very pretty details:<\/p>\n

Und manchmal auch eher … naja, sagen wir … au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlichen Einzelheiten:<\/p>\n

And sometimes also rather … well, let us call it … exceptional particulars:<\/p>\n

Ihr ersp\u00e4ht, was da unter dem Gesicht zu sehen ist? Der Legende nach hat Carl Smitt das Geb\u00e4ude besessen. Er fand heraus, dass seine Frau ihn betrog. Um das aller Welt kundzutun, soll er einen Bildhauer beauftragt haben, an der Wand sein Gesicht nachzubilden, und darunter ihre Vagina. \u00dcbrigens so, dass bei Regen seine „Tr\u00e4nen“ direkt darauf fallen. Tja …<\/p>\n

You espy what there is to be seen below the face? According to legend, Carl Smitt owned the building. He found out that his wife was cheating on him. And to tell that to the world, he instructed a sculptor to put a reproduction of his own face onto the wall, and below that her vagina. By the way: so, that when it rains, his „tears“ fall right onto it. Oh well …<\/p>\n

In Gamla Stan gibt es nat\u00fcrlich jede Menge Souvenirl\u00e4den, au\u00dferdem Caf\u00e9s und Restaurants. Und ein besonderes haben wir ganz zuf\u00e4llig entdeckt … Aber rein gegangen sind wir nicht. – Noch nicht \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

In Gamla Stan there are of course lots of souvenir shops, furthermore lots of caf\u00e9s and restaurants. And a very special one of those we stumbled across purely by accident … But we did not go inside. – Yet \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Zwischen den Souvenirl\u00e4den waren aber auch Pl\u00e4tze, an denen Touristen und andere Leute nicht so erw\u00fcnscht waren … da sind wir auch gar nicht reingegangen.<\/p>\n

Between the souvenir shops, there were also locations where tourists and other people were not that well received … and we did not go inside.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Weiter mit den „\u00fcblicheren“ Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten: Hier seht Ihr die schmalste Gasse in Stockholm. An der engsten Stelle ist sie nur 90cm breit!<\/p>\n

But let us move on to the more „usual“ sights: Here you see the narrowest alley in Stockholm. The space between the walls is only 90cm at the tightest spot!<\/p>\n

Eine weitere Kirche haben wir uns nicht angesehen: die Storkyrkan. Aber eine ber\u00fchmte Skulptur darin mussten wir trotzdem nicht ganz verpassen: Sankt Georg und der Drache. Davon gibt es n\u00e4mlich zwei Kopien: Eine steht in der Katharinenkirche in L\u00fcbeck, und eine weitere frei zug\u00e4nglich in Gamla Stan:<\/p>\n

We did not look at one other church: the Storkyrkan. But we did not have to miss out on a famous sculpture inside it: Saint George and the Dragon. Because of that, two copies exist: One is placed in the St. Catherine’s Church in Lubeck, and a second one is openly accessible in Gamla Stan:<\/p>\n

Reingegangen sind wir nicht – wir wollten uns ja noch mehr von der Altstadt ansehen. Und dabei sind wir \u00fcber etwas gestolpert, was in keinem unserer Reisef\u00fchrer aufgef\u00fchrt war:<\/p>\n

We did not go in – after all we wanted to see a bit more of this old part of town. And in doing that, we stumbled across something which was not mentioned in any of our guides:<\/p>\n

Normalnull ist hier 1900 festgestellt worden. Hinter der Eisent\u00fcr ist ein senkrechter Silberstab am Stein befestigt, und an dem ist Normalnull eingraviert.<\/p>\n

Mean sea level has been marked here in 1900. Behind the iron cover there is a silver rod attached to the rock, and on that mean sea level is engraved.<\/p>\n

Nat\u00fcrlich ist auch Gamla Stan von Wasser umgeben. Und von der richtigen Stelle aus sieht man mal wieder das Rathaus, ein alter Bekannter \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Gamla Stan is of course also surrounded by water. And from the right spot, you can once again see the Town Hall, an old acquaintance \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

M\u00f6wen gibt es da nat\u00fcrlich auch viele zu sehen. Diese hier hat gerade ein Fischlein erwischt:<\/p>\n

Sea gulls were naturally also aplenty. This one here had just caught a small fish:<\/p>\n

Und dann war es drei Uhr nachmittags und ein komisches Ger\u00e4usch erklang. Da wir gerade an Gleisen entlanggingen, hatten wir erst den Zug hier verd\u00e4chtigt:<\/p>\n

And then it was three o’clock in the afternoon, and a strange sound could be heard. Since we were just passing along some tracks, we first suspected this train here:<\/p>\n

Aber er war es nicht. Sp\u00e4ter haben wir es herausgefunden: Am ersten Montag jedes Quartals wird das Sirenensystem, das bei Feuer, Explosionen oder Krieg warnen soll, getestet.<\/p>\n

But it wasn’t that. Later we found out the truth: On the first Monday of each quarter the siren system that is supposed to warn of fire, explosions or war, is tested.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
