Der Bau ist im Stil der Manuelinik (portugiesische Sp\u00e4tgotik) gehalten. 1501 hatte K\u00f6nig Manuel I. den Grundstein f\u00fcr das Kloster gelegt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All these delicate little details, breathtaking! The structure is built in the Manueline (Portuguese late Gothic) style. 1501 King Manuel I. lay the first stone of foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wir h\u00e4tten uns das Geb\u00e4ude auch gerne von innen angesehen, aber die Schlange war uns einfach zu lang. (Merke f\u00fcr den n\u00e4chsten Besuch: Am besten ganz fr\u00fch da sein!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n We would also have liked to see the building from the inside, but the queue was just too long for our linking. Also gingen wir die paar Meter zum Padrao dos Descobrimentos, dem „Denkmal der Entdeckungen“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But then there is more to see here after all. So we walked the few meters to the Padrao dos Descobrimentos, the „Monument of Discoveries“<\/p>\n\n\n\n Es wurde 1960 unter der Herrschaft von Ant\u00f3nio de Oliveira Salazar errichtet, zum 500. Todestag von Heinrich dem Seefahrer. Auf der westlichen Seite sind viele Entdecker dargestellt, w\u00e4hrend die \u00f6stliche Seite die wichtigsten Financiers zeigt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It was erected in 1960 under the reign of Ant\u00f3nio de Oliveira Salazar, on the occasion of the 500. anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator. On the Western side many explorers are represented, while the Eastern side shows the most important financiers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Hier am Wasser hat man auch einen sch\u00f6nen Blick auf die Br\u00fccke Ponte 25 de Abril. 1966 wurde sie als Salazar-Br\u00fccke er\u00f6ffnet, doch nach der Nelkenrevolution 1974 wurde sie umbenannt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here at the water you also have a great view of the bridge Ponte 25 de Abril. That was first opened as Salazar brige in 1966, but after the Carnation Revolution in 1974 it was renamed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Aber zur\u00fcck zum Denkmal: Das ist \u00fcber 50m hoch und man darf da hochsteigen! Hier kann man Heinrich dem Seefahrer auf den Kopf gucken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But back to the monument: It is over 50m high and people are allowed to climb it up! Here you can look down onto Henry the Navigator’s head. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Auch das Kloster sieht man nat\u00fcrlich sehr sch\u00f6n von hier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And from here, of course you also have a nice view of the monastery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ein weiteres Schmuckst\u00fcck, das erst von hier oben so richtig zur Geltung kommt, ist der Boden vor dem Monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another gem that you don’t get a really good impression of until you look down at it from up here, is the ground in front of the monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Und wenn man Richtung Atlantik blickt, sieht man den Torre de Bel\u00e9m, unser n\u00e4chstes Ziel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And when you gaze in the direction of the Atlantic, you see the Torre de Bel\u00e9m, our next destination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Doch auf dem Weg zum Ausgang haben wir entdeckt, dass es im Keller des Denkmals auch noch etwas zu sehen gab. Wir hatten das Gl\u00fcck, zu genau der richtigen Zeit da zu sein. Fotos von Lu\u00eds Pav\u00e3o waren zu sehen, die er gemacht hatte, w\u00e4hrend das Monument 2016 gereinigt und restauriert worden war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But on our way back to the entrance, we discovered that in the cellar of the monument, there was something else to be seen. We were lucky to come to Lisbon at the right point in time. Daf\u00fcr waren sie damals vom 30. M\u00e4rz bis 15. Juni unterwegs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n And in 1922 two men left from here to fly all the way to Rio de Janeiro. Das sind T\u00f6rtchen mit Vanillepudding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One last stop we had though. When in the morning the lady at the hotel heard that we wanted to go to Bel\u00e9m, she told us exactly where to go to buy the famous „Past\u00e9is de Bel\u00e9m“, a must!
