<\/figure>\n\n\n\nWir hatten n\u00e4mlich alle zusammen eine Busfahrt gebucht:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because we had booked a bus tour for all of us today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Das K\u00fcnstlerdorf liegt in \u201cCasa de Campo\u201c, ein gesicherter Bereich, umgeben mit Z\u00e4unen und Stacheldraht \u2013 hier darf nicht einfach jeder rein!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The artistic village is situated in \u201cCasa de Campo\u201d, a secured area, surrounded by fences and barbed wire \u2013 not just anybody is allowed in here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aber erst mal muss man hinfinden … unser Busfahrer schien sich nicht so gut auszukennen. Diese Einbahnstra\u00dfe haben wir r\u00fcckw\u00e4rts wieder verlassen 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n But first of all you have to find the way there \u2026 it seemed that our bus driver did not know his way around so well. This one-way street we did leave again, going backwards 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aber dann hat sich gezeigt, dass wir sowieso zuerst zur H\u00f6hle wollten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But then it turned out that anyhow, we wanted to visit the cave first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Durch einen kleinen Park sind wir zur H\u00f6hle. Dort ging es ein paar Treppen hinunter und da waren wir. (Ja, Fotografieren ist eigentlich verboten \u2013 aber unser Guide hat mehrere Augen zugedr\u00fcckt, und nat\u00fcrlich habe ich keinen Blitz genutzt.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through a small park we went to the cave. There we walked down a few steps and then we were there. (Yes, taking photos is officially forbidden \u2013 but our guide turned a number of blind eyes, and of course I never used a flash.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n An der Decke kann man eine Menge Wurzeln sehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the ceiling you can see loads of roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Die sanft beleuchteten Wege durch die H\u00f6hle sind sehr sch\u00f6n angelegt. Generell wird immer nur der Teil der H\u00f6hle erhellt, den man gerade durchwandert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The dimly lit paths through the cave are very nicely laid out. In general it is always just that part of the cave that you walk through, which gets illuminated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Neben den Stalaktiten und Stalagmiten gibt es auch Bereiche, wo das Gestein wirkt wie ein Schwamm voller L\u00f6cher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Next to the stalactites and stalagmites, there are also areas where the rock looks almost like a sponge covered with holes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Anders als andere H\u00f6hlen, die wir gesehen haben, handelt es sich hier um eine gro\u00dfe Halle mit mehreren kleinen Ausl\u00e4ufern. \u00dcbrigens gibt es in der Dominikanischen Republik nicht weniger als 48.000 H\u00f6hlen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Differing from other caves which we have visited, here we have one large hall with several smaller branches. By the way: In the Dominican Republic you will find the staggering number of 48.000 caves!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eine sehr sehenswerte H\u00f6hle \u2013 wir sind froh, dass wir diesen Ausflug gebucht hatten!<\/p>\n\n\n\n A cave well worth seeing \u2013 we are glad that we booked this excursion!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aber es gibt noch mehr zu sehen. Wie wir noch alle begeistert sind von diesem eindrucksvollen Kamerad hier …<\/p>\n\n\n\n But there is more to see. While we are all still excited by this impressive fellow here \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n … f\u00fchrt unser Guide uns ein St\u00fcck weiter, wo es vor Leguanen nur so wimmelt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n … our guide leads us on a bit further, where it teemed with iguanas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ja, da gab es eine Menge \u201eAction\u201c zu sehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yes, there was a lot of \u201caction\u201d to be observed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Und nicht alle scheinen sich lieb zu haben …<\/p>\n\n\n\n And not all of them seem to love each other \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wir sind dann wieder weitergefahren. Bei Casa de Campo wurde uns Zugang gew\u00e4hrt. Wie schon gesagt, alles ist umz\u00e4unt … klar, die Leute, die hier wohnen oder Golf spielen, wollen auch nicht von niederem Volk gest\u00f6rt werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We then traveled on. At Casa de Campo we were granted admission. As I mentioned before, everything is fenced in \u2026 of course, those people who live here or play golf, they do not want to be bothered by lowly folks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Der Unterschied ist schon sp\u00fcrbar. \u201eDrau\u00dfen\u201c sind die Stra\u00dfen okay, etwas staubig und es liegt eine Unmenge von M\u00fcll herum …<\/p>\n\n\n\n And you do notice the difference. \u201cOutside\u201d the streets are okay, a bit dusty and there are heaps of garbage lying around \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n … hier \u201edrinnen\u201c dagegen wirkt alles sehr sauber, frisch und ordentlich. (Und auf den ger\u00e4umigen Kreisverkehren kann man auch ganz gut rangieren, wenn man mal wieder die falsche Ausfahrt genommen hat \u2013 unser Busfahrer f\u00e4hrt sonst ganz offensichtlich andere Strecken!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n … while here \u201einside\u201c everything comes across as clean, fresh and proper. (And on those spacious roundabouts you can also maneuver quite well, if you happened to take the wrong exit once again \u2013 quite obviously our bus driver usually drives along other routes!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Na, dann wollen wir uns dieses \u201eK\u00fcnstlerdorf\u201c doch mal ansehen, das \u00fcbrigens noch nicht sehr lange steht. Dieser Nachbau eines mediterranen Dorfes aus dem 16. Jahrhundert wurde 1974 mit dem Ziel konzipiert, nationale Kunst und Kultur zu f\u00f6rdern und zu bewahren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Okay, so then let us take a look at this \u201cartistic village\u201d which, by the way, has not been standing here for all that long yet. This replica of a 16th century Mediterranean village was designed in 1974 with the aim that it should help boosting and preserving national art and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Es gibt nette, gewundene Wege mit h\u00fcbschen Kanten und Mauern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are nice, winding paths with pretty curbs and walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vieles ist hier aus Korallgestein gebaut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here, much is built out of coral rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Das sieht man hier ganz gut:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here you can see that quite well:<\/p>\n\n\n\n F\u00fcr das Amphitheater gab Frank Sinatra 1984 die Er\u00f6ffnungsvorstellung in Form einer Sondersendung, die bei HBO ausgestrahlt wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the amphitheater Frank Sinatra gave the inaugural performance in 1984 with an HBO televised special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Es gibt einen sch\u00f6nen Brunnen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is a pretty fountain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wir haben auch das kleine Museum besucht. Dort werden zwei Bodensch\u00e4tze der Region vorgestellt: Zuerst Bernstein. Wusstet Ihr, dass der sehr leicht brennt? Und die Flamme sieht aus wie bei einer Kerze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We also visited the small museum. There two treasures of the soil of the region are introduced: First amber. Did you know that it burns very easily? And the flame looks like that of a candle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026 und Larimar. Diesen Stein findet man tats\u00e4chlich nur auf dieser einen Insel, Hispaniola, die sich die Dominikanische Republik mit ihrem Nachbarn Haiti teilt! 1916 fand ein Priester Steine am Strand, daher dachte man, sie k\u00e4men aus dem Meer. 1974 gab dann eine Kundin dem Kunsthandwerker Miguel Mendoza einen blauen Stein, den er in ein Armband einsetzen sollte. Er forschte und fand auch die Quelle der Steine. Und einen Namen gab er den Sch\u00f6nheiten auch, zusammengesetzt aus dem Namen seiner Tochter Larissa und dem spanischen Wort f\u00fcr Meer, mar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n … and larimar. This stone you can actually really only find on this one island Hispaniola which the Dominican Republic and its neighbour Haiti share! 1916 a priest found stones at the beach, which is why people thought that they came out of the ocean. 1974 then, a customer gave the artisan Miguel Mendoza a blue stone and she asked him to insert it into a bracelet. He did some research and also found the source of the stones. And he also gave these beauties a name, a combination of his daughter’s name Larissa and the Spanish word for ocean, mar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hinter dem Gel\u00e4nde flie\u00dft ein Fluss vorbei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Behind the site, a river runs past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hier kann man eine Menge Geier kreisen sehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here you can see a lot of vultures circling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Truthahngeier, wenn ich das richtig nachgeschlagen habe …<\/p>\n\n\n\n Turkey vultures, if I have looked that up correctly … <\/p>\n\n\n\n Wir hatten ein Weilchen zur freien Verf\u00fcgung, da konnte man mal ein bisschen herumlaufen und ansehen, was es so gibt. Ein kleines Kirchlein zum Beispiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We had a bit of time to ourselves, so you could now walk around for a bit and take a look at what there was to see. A small church for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Und man h\u00e4tte nat\u00fcrlich auch ein paar Souvenirs kaufen k\u00f6nnen. Leider sind wegen Corona viele der K\u00fcnstler, die sonst hier ihre Waren anbieten, nicht da. Denn hier machen sie alles: T\u00f6pfern, Weben, Siebdruck und noch viel mehr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And of course you could have also bought a few souvenirs. Unfortunately, because of Corona many of the artists who normally offer their products here, are not on site. Because here they do it all: pottery to weaving, silk screening and so much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Doch wer braucht die? Sch\u00f6nes Wetter, blauer Himmel und Stille … was will man mehr?<\/p>\n\n\n\n But who needs those? Nice weather, blue skies and quiet \u2026 what else do you need?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wir haben dann im Park noch ein paar sch\u00f6ne Orchideen und andere Blumen entdeckt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We then discovered a few orchids and some other flowers in the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aber dann hie\u00df es auch schon wieder: Sammeln, wir gehen zur\u00fcck zum Bus!<\/p>\n\n\n\n But then the call went out already: Everybody assemble, we will go back to the bus!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ja, und dann sind wir wieder in unseren Bus … und ich hab die Dame von AIDA noch gefragt, ob es jetzt direkt zum Schiff zur\u00fcck geht? \u2013 Ja! … Doch dann sind wir \u00fcber eine Br\u00fccke und danach sind wir einen besseren Feldweg hinunter gerumpelt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yes, and then we got back onto the bus \u2026 and I did ask the lady from the AIDA whether now we would drive straight back to the ship? \u2013 Yes! \u2026 But then we crossed a bridge and afterwards we clattered down some kind of dirt road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fahrer und Guide meinten wohl, wir wollten auch die Flussfahrt noch machen. Ich denke, viele von uns h\u00e4tten da nichts dageben gehabt. Doch ein Gast ist dann aufgestanden und hat nach vorne gerufen, dass sie f\u00fcr 12:30 die n\u00e4chste Tour gebucht h\u00e4tten. Da war es 12:36 … Also schnellstens zur\u00fcck zum Schiff. \u00dcbrigens: immer, wenn man zur\u00fcckkommt von den Ausfl\u00fcgen, gibt es zur Begr\u00fc\u00dfung einen frischen Saft, lecker – da haben wir uns schnell dran gew\u00f6hnt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Well, I guess driver and guide thought we would also like to do the river tour. And I think many of us would not have minded. But one guest then got up and called to the front that they have their next tour booked for 12:30. Well, by then it was 12:36 \u2026 So back to the ship as fast as possible. By the way: whenever you come back from the excursions, you get a fresh welcome juice, yummy – that was something that we quickly got used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Torben und ich haben dann noch eine Weile ins Wasser geschaut …<\/p>\n\n\n\n There Torben and I then gazed into the water for a while \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Zur\u00fcck an Bord sind wir nach einem kleinen Snack (Currywurst und Tapas … und Sangrias vielleicht?) auf eines der oberen Decks f\u00fcr einen Rundumblick: Auf sch\u00f6ne Uferkulissen …<\/p>\n\n\n\n Back on board, after a little snack (currywurst and tapas \u2026 and maybe also some sangrias?) we went to one of the upper decks for a look once all around: At wonderful coastlines \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n … und ganz viel Baseball-Training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n … and lots of baseball training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ach so \u2026 gleich heute morgen als wir ankamen, hab ich eine Menge lautes Gezwitscher geh\u00f6rt. Klang sehr nach Papageien … also habe ich mich auf dem Balkon dann noch eine Weile auf die Lauer gelegt. Ha! Nicht nur laut sondern auch unglaublich schnell sind die Kerle … nicht zu erwischen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oh, by the way … right this morning when we arrived, I heard a lot of quite noisy twittering. Sounded a lot like parrots … so now I took up my post on the balcony for a while. Ha! Those guys are not only very loud but also incredibly fast \u2026 you just cannot catch them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Es fing halt auch schon an, dunkel zu werden …<\/p>\n\n\n\n And then it already started getting dark as well \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Und eh man sich versah, war der Tag auch schon wieder um.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And before you knew it, the days was over already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Um neun Uhr abends sind wir wieder weiter.
