In der Nacht hat es heftig geregnet, morgens war alles nass, und wieder war es bedeckt, richtig grau. Aber wir haben den Lavendel beim zugeh\u00f6rigen Hof trotzdem genossen.<\/p>\n

During the night it had rained heavily, in the morning all was wet, and once again the sky was overcast, grey really. But we nonetheless enjoyed the lavender at the lavender farm.<\/p>\n

Da haben wir auch wieder Zikaden geh\u00f6rt und gesehen, und spannende Spinnen, zwei haben so eine Art Tanz aufgef\u00fchrt …<\/p>\n

There we once again heard and saw cicadas, and fascinating spiders, two of them did a kind of dance …<\/p>\n

Nur, wie gesagt, der Boden war nass … und nach ungef\u00e4hr einer Stunde durch-das-Gras-laufen hatten wir nasse Socken und Schuhe. Tja, warm war es nicht wirklich, aber wir haben nicht so viele Schuhe dabei, also haben wir dann ganz deutsch Socken in Sandalen getragen \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

But, as mentioned above, the ground was wet … and after about an hour of walking around in wet grass, we had wet socks and shoes. Well, it was not really warm, but we don’t have all that many shoes in our luggage, so we then – very German! – wore socks in our sandals \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Ach, und die Schuhe wollten partout nicht trocknen, die mussten dann sp\u00e4ter in die pralle Sonne! Gesagt, getan …<\/p>\n

Oh, and the shoes just did not want to dry out, they – later on that was – needed to be put into the bright sunshine! No sooner said than done …<\/p>\n

Bei der Weiterfahrt war um uns herum immer noch alles wolkenverhangen – manchmal sah es so aus, als w\u00e4re den Neuseel\u00e4ndern die Landschaft ausgegangen und als h\u00e4tten sie dann einfach alles wei\u00df \u00fcberpinselt. Als ob die Welt da einfach aufh\u00f6rt.<\/p>\n

When we continued our drive, all around us the clouds still hung very low – sometimes it looked as if the New Zealanders had run out of landscape and then they had simply coloured everything white. As if the world simply ended there.<\/p>\n

Wir sind bis zw\u00f6lf gefahren, dann waren wir hungrig. Und wir haben genau das richtige Caf\u00e9 gefunden, mit ganztags-Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck! Lecker wars!<\/p>\n

We kept going until noon, then we were hungry. And we found just the right caf\u00e9, serving breakfast all day long! And yummy it was!<\/p>\n

Und wie wir da so drau\u00dfen sitzen und essen, kam die Sonne raus, aber so extrem, dass wir schnell die Sonnencreme geholt haben.<\/p>\n

And as we are sitting there outside and eating, the sun came out, but full blast, so that we quickly got the sunscreen out.<\/p>\n

Beim Weiterfahren haben wir dann noch eine Wolke gefunden, die sich wohl verlaufen hatte. Auf einmal war da eine Nebelwand \u00fcber der Stra\u00dfe, vielleicht 5m dick, lustig.<\/p>\n

Later, down the road, we found one cloud that must have gotten lost. All of a sudden there was this wall of fog across the street, maybe 5m thick, funny.<\/p>\n

Wir haben dann am fr\u00fchen Nachmittag Lake Grassmere erreicht, wo \u00fcber Verdunstung Salz gewonnen wird. F\u00fchrungen gibt es leider keine, aber wir haben ein paar Fotos gemacht.<\/p>\n

In the early afternoon we reached Lake Grassmere, where they extract salt via evaporation. Unfortunately there are no tours offered, but we did take a few pictures.<\/p>\n

Und dann sind wir an den „Becken“ entlang Richtung K\u00fcste gefahren.<\/p>\n

And then we drove past all the „pools“ towards the coast.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Unterwegs haben wir sch\u00f6ne Schw\u00e4ne gesehen, wieder Zikaden, und einen Distelfink.<\/p>\n

On the way we saw pretty swans, some more cicadas, and a goldfinch.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Und dann waren wir am Strand. In der Mitte ein Steg, ansonsten weit und breit nix und niemand. Wir hatten den ganzen Strand f\u00fcr uns, ganz kleine Kiesel, sch\u00f6n warm, Wahnsinn! Lange sind wir da entlangspaziert, haben sch\u00f6ne Steine und Muscheln gesammelt, das Wetter und die Wellen genossen. Am Ende haben wir uns unsere B\u00fccher geholt und in der Sonne gelesen, auf diesen sch\u00f6nen warmen Steinen … man h\u00e4tte glatt einschlafen k\u00f6nnen!<\/p>\n

And then we reached the beach. A jetty in the middle, other than that, nothing and nobody as far as the eye could see. We had the whole beach to ourselves. It was covered with small pebbles, nice and warm, awesome! We strolled along the beach for a long time, we collected pretty stones and shells, enjoyed the weather and the waves. And after that, we got our books and read, sitting in the sun on those nice warm pebbles … one could easily just have drifted off to sleep!<\/p>\n

Fast zwei Stunden haben wir am Strand verbracht, dann sind wir weiter. Und abends um sechs haben wir dann unseren letzten Standort auf der S\u00fcdinsel erreicht: Picton. Da sind wir am Hafen herumspaziert und haben von einer Br\u00fccke kleine Quallen im Wasser gesehen … und …<\/p>\n

We spent almost two hours on the beach, then we pushed on. And then at six in the evening we reached our last base on the South Island: Picton. There we went for a stroll along the harbour, and from a bridge we saw small jellyfish in the water … and …<\/p>\n

Toll! Gut, dass wir offiziell Spa\u00df haben durften …<\/p>\n

Fantastic! Good thing that we had the permission to have fun …<\/p>\n

Zum Abschluss haben wir noch Kormoranen zugesehen, dann gings zur\u00fcck ins Motel, und jetzt gehts ins Bett! Gute Nacht!<\/p>\n

To finish the evening, we watched some cormorants, then we went back to the motel, and now it is time for bed! Good night!<\/p>\n
