Heute m\u00fcssen wir diese sch\u00f6ne Insel verlassen. Sie hei\u00dft nicht umsonst Garteninsel, so viel gr\u00fcn \u00fcberall …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we have to leave this pretty island. It is called Garden Island for a reason, so much green everywhere \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir waren fr\u00fch genug unterwegs, um uns noch einen kleinen Abstecher zu g\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were early enough so that we could allow ourselves a little detour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wie der Zaun zeigt, sind wir direkt beim Flughafen, aber wir wollen zum Leuchtturm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the fence shows, we are right at the airport, but we want to go to the lighthouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurz davor haben wir diese spannenden Kakteen gefunden, die wir noch nirgends sonst auf der Insel gesehen haben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Close to it, we found these interesting cacti that we have not seen anywhere else on the island so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sind die Bl\u00fcten nicht h\u00fcbsch?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aren\u2019t the blooms gorgeous?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eine sehr sch\u00f6ne Ecke hier. Der Ausblick ist toll, auch wenn wir nicht auf den Leuchtturm hoch konnten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A very nice spot here. The view is great, even if we could not go up the lighthouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jetzt m\u00fcssen wir aber auch los, sonst verpassen wir unseren Flug!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But now we really have to get going, or we will miss our flight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und von wegen V\u00f6gel: Nene haben wir leider bisher keine gesehen. Das ist eine Gans, die es nur auf den hawaiianischen Inseln gibt, seit 1957 der Staatsvogel des Bundesstaates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And speaking about birds: Nene we have not seen so far, unfortunately. The is a goose that is only to be found on the Hawaiian islands, since 1957 the state bird of this state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dann sind wir abgeflogen. Nat\u00fcrlich \u00fcber Honolulu, es gibt kaum direkte Fl\u00fcge zwischen den Inseln, man muss immer \u00fcber die Hauptinsel. Und, ja, das hier ist Teil des Flughafens!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we took off. Of course via Honolulu, there are next to no direct flights between the islands, you always have to go via the main island. And, yes, this here is part of the airport!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir hatten keinen langen Aufenthalt, dann ging es wieder weiter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did not have a long stopover, then we traveled on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hier sind wir wohl \u00fcber Moloka\u2019i.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we are probably above Moloka\u2019i.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direkt danach kam Maui, und wenig sp\u00e4ter unser n\u00e4chstes Ziel: Hawai\u2019i selber, oder \u201ethe Big Island\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right afterwards there came Maui, and soon after our next destination: Hawai\u2019i itself, or the \u201cBig Island\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir haben unseren Mietwagen geholt, dieses Mal tats\u00e4chlich ein wei\u00dfer Kia Soul (den wollten sie uns auf Kauai ja schon verpassen), voller Beulen und Rostflecken, komplett mit fleckigen Sitzen … hm. Naja, wenig sp\u00e4ter waren wir gl\u00fccklich in unserer Unterkunft, dem Bed & Breakfast in Hilo, wo wir 2018 schon gewohnt hatten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then picked up our rental car, this time actually a white Kia Soul (that is what they had meant to give us on Kauai already), full of dents and rusty spots, complete with stains on the seats \u2026 hm. Oh well, a little bit later we had happily arrived at our lodging, the bed & breakfast in Hilo where we had already stayed in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und als erstes sind wir … nein, nicht ins Aquarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And first of all we went \u2026 no, not to the aquarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das ist nur eine von vier tollen Wandmalereien hier:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is only one of four great wall paintings here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
