Heute gibt es erst mal nur einen Programmpunkt, mal sehen, ob wir danach noch etwas schaffen: Houston Space Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we have only one thing planned so far, let\u2019s see whether we will manage to add something afterwards: Houston Space Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da das Gel\u00e4nde riesig ist, wird man mit kleinen Trams herumgefahren. Also zum \u201eBahnhof\u201c, wo dieses tolle Bild wartet:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the area is huge, you get transported around with little trams. So off to the \u201cstation\u201d, where this gorgeous painting awaits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also auf die erste Tour, zum riesigen Reinraum mit den ISS-Modul-Kopien und so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, off to the first trip, to the huge cleanroom with the ISS mock-ups and such:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Man f\u00e4hrt ein ganzes St\u00fcck, unter einer Stra\u00dfe durch, zum n\u00e4chsten Zaun …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have quite a bit to go, underneath a street, to the next fence \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dann waren wir bei der \u201eSpace Vehicle Mockup Facility\u201c (Raumfahrzeug-\u00dcbungsmodell-Geb\u00e4ude). Hier eine Menge ISS und ein Ausschnitt, der ahnen l\u00e4sst, wie gro\u00df der Raum ist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we were at the \u201cSpace Vehicle Mockup Facility\u201d. Here a lot of ISS and a view that might give you an idea of the size of the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und Orion \u2013 damit soll es wieder zum Mond gehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Orion \u2013 with that they want to go back to the moon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das war ein sehr sch\u00f6ner erster Ausflug!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was a very nice first excursion!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nach einem schnellen Tee …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a quick cup of tea \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 haben wir mit Orion gleich weitergemacht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

… we went on with checking Orion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir haben gelernt, dass Orion viel sicherer ist als alles, was es bisher gab … bestimmt ist eine geheime Zutat \u201ealle m\u00fcssen gestreifte Socken tragen\u201c! So kriegen wir das hin mit dem Mond!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We learned that Orion is much much safer than all that came before \u2026 most probably one secret ingredient is \u201call must wear striped socks\u201d! That way we will get this thing managed with the moon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und wenn jetzt jemand denkt … hm, hab was von einem Flug zum Mond geh\u00f6rt, aber das hie\u00df doch Artemis! Genau, das ist das Programm, mit der Orion-Kapsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if now one of you thinks \u2026 hm, I did hear something about a flight to the moon, but that was called Artemis, wasn\u2019t it? Exactly, that is the program, with the Orion capsule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auch die Raumanz\u00fcge werden besser. Sie haben bis zu 14 Lagen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the space suits also get ever better. They have up to 14 layers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir mussten auf unsere zweite Tour: Apollo Mission Control Tour. Schon beim ersten Mal kamen wir bei den Longhorns vorbei, die auch zur NASA-Familie geh\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had to get to our second tour: Apollo Mission Control Tour. When we were out first time, we had already passed the longhorns, which are also part of the NASA family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jetzt haben wir erfahren, dass das Gel\u00e4nde auch ein Schutzgebiet f\u00fcr Wildtiere ist. Es gibt sogar einen Alligator \u201eMeco\u201c (=Main Engine Cut Off = Hauptmotor abgeschaltet), aber den haben wir nicht gesehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we learned that the area is also a refuge for wild animals. There is even an alligator here, \u201cMeco\u201d (=Main Engine Cut Off), but we did not see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aber wir sind ja unterwegs zur ersten Mondlandung!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But then, we are on our way to the first landing on the moon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir sa\u00dfen im Original-Besucherraum und haben in die Kontrollstation hineingeschaut, w\u00e4hrend die echten Aufnahmen liefen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We sat in the original visitors\u2019 room and looked into the mission control center, while the true recordings were run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir haben zugesehen, wie genau festgehalten wurde, wo die Astronauten wann waren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We watched as they tracked precisely where the astronauts were at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Der Raum ist das Original, wir sa\u00dfen auf den echten (uralten!) Sitzen im Besucherraum …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The room is the original, we sat on the true (terribly old!) seats in the visitors\u2019 area \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 und auch die richtigen Requisiten waren am Platz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…. and the correct props were also laid out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es war aufregend und viel zu schnell vorbei!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was exciting and over much too fast!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und wir sind schon auf unserer dritten Tour!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we are already on our third trip!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Au\u00dfen diese beiden Raketen und etliche Triebwerke …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside these two rockets and several engines \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(alles ganz sch\u00f6n gro\u00df!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(quite big all of it!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 und innen dann die Saturn V. Nicht gro\u00df sondern riesig!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

… and then inside the Saturn V. Not big but rather huge!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auf jeden Fall passt die Rakete nicht auf ein Foto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In any case, the rocket does not fit into one picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir haben Informationen zu den verschiedenen Apollo-Missionen erhalten …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got information about the different Apollo missions \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 und haben die Saturn V ausf\u00fchrlich studiert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

… and studied the Saturn V in detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und dann sind wir \u2026 nein, nicht zur Weihnachtsausstellung 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then we went … no, not to the Christmas exhibition 😊<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir haben uns das Space Shuttle auf einer Boeing 747 angesehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We looked at the Space Shuttle on top of a Boeing 747.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sowohl im Space Shuttle \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both in the Space Shuttle \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 als auch in der Boeing kann man herumlaufen. (und es gibt eine Menge Informationen zu lesen und sehen!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

… and also in the Boeing you can walk around. (and there is a lot of information to see and read!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schon spannend, wenn man mal \u00fcberall ganz nah ran darf!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quite exciting when for a change you are allowed to get up close!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aber es gibt ja noch mehr zu sehen. Also vorbei an der Weihnachts-ISS …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there is still more to see. So past the Christmas ISS \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 zur Falcon 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 to the Falcon 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Und dann mussten wir schon fast wieder gehen! In einer halben Stunde schlie\u00dft das Center!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then we had to almost leave again already! In half an hour the Center will close!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also Abflug. Toll war es, aber man muss zweimal herkommen, um alles zu sehen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So takeoff. It was great, but you need to come twice to see it all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir m\u00fcssen auch irgendwann mal was essen, aber nicht hier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do have to get a bite to eat sooner or later, but not here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vietnamesische K\u00fccher, sehr lecker!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vietnamese cuisine, very delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
