Okay, so we kept our hosts very busy. For of course highest priority was: Get a new camera for Kirsche! Yesterday we were in a big shop, with a salesman who definitely was not in a mood to help us and who on top of that – as I found out later – straight out lied to us. Still, we had bought the first batch of equipment there.

Then the question was: a used one, as I had before (you won’t get a new one anymore), or the new model? So we did not buy a camera yet, wanting to read up on the differences in the evening.

And it soon became clear, the newer model is much better, so we have to get that one. So today we drove off, to a different shop that is closer by, for simply the camera body – we were sure of that – they would have in all the shops.

In „Ted’s“ we then found the absolute opposite to the first salesman: Andrew was a true angel! (Andrew, in case you read this: Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!) We got the camera for a very good price, and Andrew also fulfilled special requests (regarding the camera!!!). With much joy and helpfulness, and in between he showed us great photos that he had taken.

And then we found out that in the first shop we had bought things that were too expensive and/or not really premium quality. … So we bought it all from Andrew, went back to store number one and returned all that crap …

And now we have a veeeeeeeeeeeeery happy Kirsche!!!

Dear Kirsten and Torben,
I read your story from day one and I even catch myself on opening my laptop in the evening only to check on your travels and stories. I love it! I am not really a person that follows blogs or tv series but yours is simply amazing. In a way it makes me feel like I am sometimes there with you :).
The photos and the nature are extraordinary. The colours, flora, water, birds oh everything.
As a 6 year old I was on the Philip Island/ the Penguin Island. Not sure if these are my memories or the memories of family stories but I recall waiting late in the evening till it got pitch black. There was a tribune build in the dunes and we were waiting…and waiting and waiting. And suddenly there were these fluffy balls rolling out of the water. And so many of them. At one point they all “unrolled” and cute little penguins started wobbly walking towards the beach. Further inland, there were paths for humans and ones for penguins and in a few cross points volunteers were closing our traffic, reassuring peaceful distance for the penguins so they could continue their walk. I hope this penguin sanctuary still exists and maybe one day I would like to see it again. I will try to find some old photos in my parents‘ flat. Maybe it could be something interesting for you to see during your journey?
The precious stones digging, what an adventure even if they are small. I do hope you will make some kind of jewellery piece from them, Kirsten :). What a beautiful souvenir it would be.
I was so sad to hear about the lost camera. What a misfortune! And the horrid salesman. As I do believe in destiny and karma, there you go, the next shop was great and honest.
With the end of the year and Christmas time, I would like to wish you best of luck in your travels, many amazing adventures, plants, creatures and positive humans too. Cooperative weather and technology, good health and most of all friendship and smiles. All the best in New Year 2018!
Can’t wait to read your next stories.
Take care,
Olga and Iggy Dog
Dearest Olga and Iggy!
Thank you so much for your wonderful words! Especially after the misfortune with the camera, it feels so good to read your mail. And that is what is so much more important than a camera and a bad salesman … all those wonderful people we are allowed to have in our lives!
So thank you again, and have a wonderful time now between Christmas and the start of the new year, and may 2018 be a splendid year for you full of great and positive surprises!
All the best!
Kirsten and Torben
