Nach einer Nacht mit viel Grübeln: buchen wir einen neuen Flug auf Verdacht? Was machen wir, wenn wir keinen Pass kriegen?
After a night of much pondering: shall we take a chance and book a new flight? What will we do if we do not get new passports?
Naja, sobald sie aufgemacht haben, haben wir das Passamt in Bremen angerufen und wurden gleich unterbrochen: Sie sind in Hamburg, richtig? Wir haben gerade die Freigabe ans Amt in Hamburg geschickt! Das bedeutet … wir dürfen:
Well, right when they opened, we called the passport office in Bremen, and got interrupted: You are in Hamburg, right? We just gave the permission to the Hamburg office! That means … we will get to:
Torben hat gleich den nächsten Flug gebucht (viele gab es nicht mehr, es ist nun einmal Pfingsten), wir sind zum Amt, und dann ging alles ganz schnell:
Torben right away booked the next flight (there were not many left, after all it is Pentecost), we went to the office, and then it went real quick:
Danach war erst mal Enstpannung angesagt, Kaffee/Tee und Kuchen in der Sonne.
After all that, some relaxation was in order, coffee/tea and cake in the sun.
Unser Flug ist erst nachts, also können wir jetzt in Ruhe ein bisschen Hamburg genießen. Zuerst sind wir zu den Landungsbrücken.
Our flight will not be until tonight, so we can now enjoy a bit of Hamburg without hurry. First we went to the Landungsbrücken.
Dann sind wir zur Elbphilharmonie flaniert …
Then we strolled to the Elbphilharmonie …
… da hat Kirsche ein Eis gekriegt …
… there Kirsche got an ice cream …
… um das aufgeregte Hirn zu beruhigen, alles durchgewirbelt nach dem Pass-Stress.
… to calm down the agitated brain, all in a swirl after all the stress with the passports.
Weiter ging es in die Speicherstadt.
On we went to the Speicherstadt.

… und dann steht man unter offenem Himmel: 1943/1944 wurde der größte Teil der Kirche zerstört.
… and then you stand under an open sky: 1943/1944 most of the church was destroyed.
Es gibt ein paar Kunstwerke zu sehen, zum Beispiel hier „Prüfung“, gewidmet der Gedenkstätte des ehemaligen Stammlagers Sandbostel. Der Sockel besteht aus Backsteinen, aus denen die Gefangenen-Baracken gebaut worden waren.
There are a few pieces of art to be seen, for example here “Prüfung” (trial / ordeal), dedicated to the historic site of the former camp Sandbostel. The pedestal consists of bricks, with which the baracks for the prisoners had been built.
Wir sind dann noch zum Rathaus mit der schönen Fassade … hier ein Detail mit einem tollen Schlüssel 😊
We then walked on to the town hall with the pretty façade … here a detail with a great key 😊
Wir haben den Abend dann in der Hotellobby gesessen, sind noch zum Italiener auf eine schnelle Pizza und dann zum Flughafen. Wir dachten, wir gönnen uns eine Flasche Whisky für London … aber soviel Geld haben wir dann doch nicht dabei.
We then spent the evening sitting in the hotel lobby, went for a quick pizza to an Italian restaurant and then to the airport. We thought we might get a bottle of whisky for our stay in London … but then we did not have so much cash.
Unser Flug hätte um 21:50 gehen sollen, um 23:40 sind wir endlich abgehoben, um 23:45 Ortszeit waren wir in Gatwick, und der freundliche Taxifahrer Ash hat uns zur Unterkunft gebracht, da waren wir dann endlich um 2:10.
Our flight was scheduled for 9:50 pm, and at 11:40 pm we finally did take off, and at 11:45 local time we were in Gatwick, and the friendly taxi driver Ash brought us to our lodging where we finally arrived at 2:10 am.
