Guten Morgen (es ist kurz vor sieben hier, jetzt, da ich dies schreibe)! Wir entschuldigen uns für die Sendepause, und auch dieser Eintrag wird ganz kurz … aber später gibt es mehr! Das Schnorcheln hat uns nämlich tolle Sonnenbrände beschert, vor allem die Rothaarige unter uns hat den Tag im Stehen und auf dem Bauch verbracht … Sitzen war nicht angeraten! Also haben wir nicht viel gemacht, nur ein paar neue Krabben entdeckt … (es gibt so viele verschiedene hier!)
Good morning (it is just before 7 a.m. here, now that I write this)! We apologize for the break in transmission, and this entry will also be only a short one … but you will get more later! You see, the snorkeling left both of us with fantastic sunburns, especially the red haired one among us spent the day standing and lying on her tummy … Sitting was not advised! So we did not do much, just discovered a few new crabs … (there are so many different kinds here!)
Abends waren wir schon in unserem Bungalow, als wir auf der Veranda Schritte hören. ???? Wer soll das denn sein? Ich reiße die Tür auf, um wem auch immer meine Meinung zu sagen … stehen da drei der Damen von Tanna Evergreen Resort in der Dunkelheit. (Was wollen die denn???) Dann sagt die eine zu mir: Ihr habt das Licht draußen nicht an. Ich erkläre ihr, dass wir das ja auch nicht brauchen … sind ja drinnen. (???) Eine Pause … Schließlich sagt sie: Könntet Ihr es anmachen? Konnten wir natürlich … und dann haben wir auch gesehen, was los war:
In the evening we were in our bungalow already, when suddenly we hear steps on our porch. ???? Who should that be? I open the door resolutely, to give whoever a piece of my mind … and there are three of the ladies of Tanna Evergreen Resort standing in the dark. (What on earth do they want???) Then one of them says to me: You don’t have the outside lights on. I explain to her that – after all – we don’t need it …. we are inside – after all. (???) Silence … Finally she says: Could you turn it on? Of course we could … and then we saw what was the matter:
Sie haben sich zwar um einen Tag vertan, aber wen stört das. Torben hat ein Ständchen gekriegt, dann haben sie uns sogar noch eine Kanne Tee gemacht und gebracht, und wir hatten ein spätes Geburtstagsessen auf der Veranda.
They did get it wrong by one day, but who cares. Torben got a birthday serenade, then they even made a pot of tea for us and brought that too, and we had a late birthday meal on the porch.
