Beim letzten Eintrag ist Euch beim Betrachten der Fotos ja bestimmt aufgefallen, dass beim Rathaus auch ein Turm dabei ist, 106m hoch. Den wollten wir natürlich auch besichtigen. Für 13:50 Uhr hatten wir Karten gekriegt, jetzt ging es daran, die 365 Stufen nach oben zu erklimmen.
In the last entry, I am sure you noticed on the pictures that the town hall also has a tower, which is 106m high. Of course we wanted to visit that as well. We had bought tickets for 1:50pm, and now it was time to climb the 365 steps to the top.
Zunächst sah alles nach einem typischen Treppenhaus in solch einem Gemäuer aus, Ziegelmauern und lange Treppen nach oben … Doch dann kamen wir an die erste interessante Ecke:
At first it looked like the typical hallway in such a building, brick walls and lots of steps that lead upward … But then we reached the first more interesting bit:
Das Turm-Museum, in dem Modelle von den vielen Statuen ausgestellt sind, die im und am Rathaus zu finden sind.
The Tower Museum, in which models of the many statues that you find in and around the town hall can be seen.
Aber dann geht es weiter nach oben, und jetzt wird es spannend: Man geht ganz nah an den Außenmauern entlang, auf einem Boden, der ganz leicht schräg nach oben geht, und an den Ecken geht man nicht einfach rechts, sondern rechts-links-rechts,
But then you go further up, and now it gets really interesting: You walk close to the outer walls, on a floor with a very light rise, bringing you higher and higher, and at the corners you don’t simply turn right, but rather right-left-right,
dann die nächste Schräge hoch mit ein paar Treppchen in der Mitte.
then up the next slope, with a few small steps in the middle.
Der nächste Abschnitt sind dann dunkle Holzstiegen,
The next part then are dark wooden stairs,
und dann ist man oben. Leider in einem „Käfig“, aber das muss wohl so sein.
and then you are at the top. In a „cage“ unfortunately, but I guess that can’t be helped.
Über einem kann man die Glocken hängen sehen.

Und dann gilt es, den fabelhaften Ausblick über Stockholm, und vor allem Gamla Stan, die Altstadt, zu genießen.
And then it is time to enjoy the fabulous views over Stockholm, and especially Gamla Stan, the old part of town.
Leider darf man jedoch nicht unbegrenzt dort oben bleiben. Früher oder später kommt die Aufforderung, bitte wieder nach unten zu gehen …
Unfortunately you are not allowed to stay up there for as long as you like. Sooner or later you are asked to please go down again …
Da haben wir uns dann mit Stefan getroffen, wieder mal ein Freund und Kollege 😉
And that is where we met up with Stefan, once again a friend and colleague 😉
Zusammen sind wir dann ein bisschen durch Stockholm gewandert und haben immer wieder tolle Ausblicke übers Wasser genossen.
Together we then strolled through Stockholm a bit and time and again caught great views across the water.
Dabei haben wir uns diese Skulptuer angesehen: der Messing-Fuchs von Laura Ford nennt sich „Rag and Bone“ und sitzt hier seit 2008. In einer Umfrage wurde entschieden, dass er genau hier sitzen soll, an einer Straßenecke, an der Touristen und reiche Bürger unterwegs sind.
In doing that, we got to look at this sculpture: the brass fox by Laura Ford is called „Rag and Bone“ and has been sitting here since 2008. In a public vote it was decided that it should sit right here, at a street corner, where tourists and rich burghers walk by.
Wir haben von der Ferne auch einen Blick auf den Vergnügungspark Gröna Lund geworfen.
From a distance, we also caught a glimpse of the amusement park Gröna Lund.
Und was ich an diesem Tag gelernt habe: In Stockholm braucht man nicht nur kein Bargeld (wirklich! selbst an der kleinsten Würstchenbude und beim Obststand!!!), die Leute wollen es auch gar nicht. Und wirklich, wir haben während unseres Aufenthaltes kein Bargeld abgehoben.
And something I learned on this day: In Stockholm, not only do you need no cash (really! even at the smallest hot dog stand and at the fruit stall!!!), the people here don’t even want it. And really, during our stay, we not once got cash at an ATM.
Irgendwann waren wir dann gegenüber dem Rathaus. Jetzt konnten wir es noch einmal in seiner ganzen Pracht sehen.
After a while then, we were opposite the town hall. Now we could see the building in all its splendor.
Und wie wir dann später am Abend, nach einem Besuch in Stefan’s Wohnung, zurück in unser Hotel gewandert sind – über die Brücke, die auf dem ersten Foto des letzten Eintrages zu sehen ist – haben wir dann sogar einen Regenbogen gesehen,
And then, later in the evening, when after a visit to Stefan’s apartment, we walked back to our hotel – across the bridge that you can see on the first photo of the last entry – we even saw a rainbow,
natürlich auch über dem Rathaus!
