Zu Beginn des Jahres hatten wir unsere Urlaubsplanung gemacht und eine ganze Reihe von möglichen Zielen aufgeschrieben. Die Endauswahl sah dann so aus: Ein paar Tage in Barcelona im März – das hat noch geklappt. Das lange Wochenende in Krakau fiel dann schon Corona zum Opfer, aus dem Traumurlaub in Costa Rica wurde ein toller Aufenthalt in Neustrelitz … und dann war da noch Andalusien. Wir hatten für September einen Flug nach Sevilla gebucht, da wollten wir mit dem Mietwagen starten und uns die Region ansehen. Eine Weile sah es ja so aus, als ob das klappen würde, doch dann stiegen die COVID-19 Zahlen in Spanien, und erst wurden nur einzelne Regionen, dann aber doch ganz Spanien wieder zum Risikogebiet erklärt. Und während wir noch überlegten, ob wir trotzdem fliegen und danach einfach zwei Wochen Quarantäne und Home Office in Kauf nehmen wollten, wurde unser Flug storniert. Also kein Flug mit dem Flugzeug … aber vielleicht können wir auch anders in die Höhe steigen?
At the beginning of the year, we had planned our vacations and listed a whole bunch of possible destinations. The final selection then looked like this: A few days in Barcelona in March – that actually did work out. The long weekend in Krakow already fell victim to Corona, the dream vacation in Costa Rica turned into a great stay in Neustrelitz … and then there was the trip to Andalusia. We had booked a flight to Sevilla for September, where we had planned to start our travels in a rental car, to explore the region. For a while it had looked as if that would work out, but then the COVID-19 numbers started to rise again in Spain, and at first only certain regions, but then finally the whole country, were declared a high risk destination once again. And while we were still trying to decide whether we wanted to fly nonetheless and then just accept the two weeks of quarantine and working from home, our flight got cancelled. So no flight in an airplane … but maybe we can rise into the air in a different way?
Nein, die Seilbahn war nur der Auftakt! Wir wollten eine andere Art Höhenflug machen. – Die Kundigen unter Euch haben es natürlich sofort erraten: Wir sind in Bad Harzburg. Hier wollen wir zusammen mit Torbens Eltern die neueste Attraktion ausprobieren.
No, the gondola lift was only the prelude. We were planning on a different kind of soaring flight. – The experts among you already guessed it, of course: We are in Bad Harzburg. Here we want to try the newest attraction together with Torben’s parents.
Zuerst wird man ordentlich eingepackt.
First you get nicely wrapped up.
Und dann sitzt man ganz angenehm und sicher.
And then you sit there comfortably and safely.
Und dann geht es auf Fahrt mit der BaumSchwebeBahn.
And then you go on tour with the Fly-Line.
Das Tempo ist eher gemächlich und man überlegt gerade, ob das nicht doch ein bisschen langweilig wird …
The speed is rather unhurried and you just start wondering whether this might not get a bit boring …
… da kommt die erste Kurve, und es dreht einen hierhin und dorthin. Da ist die Langeweile verflogen.
… when you come to the first turn, and all of a sudden you get spinned this way and that. That shoos away the boredom.
Ich hatte das Glück, „in der Mitte“ unserer Gruppe zu sein. Auf die Weise konnte ich hinter mir Torben sehen …
I was lucky in being „in the middle“ of our group. That way I could see Torben behind me …
… und vor mir nicht nur die restliche Strecke, sondern wenn man ganz genau hinschaut … (wir gehen etwas näher ran)

… Torbens Eltern vor mir. Doch dann wars auch schon wieder vorbei. Wir haben uns das System – das aus Südtirol kommt – noch ein bisschen erklären lassen.

Für den Weg zurück zum Auto hätte es zwei Möglichkeiten gegeben: Den Baumwipfelpfad (den kennen wir aber schon) oder den Wurzelpfad. Den haben wir genommen.
For the way back we had two options: the Tree Top Trail (which we already know) or the Root Trail. That is the one we chose.
Man geht den Berg hinunter und lernt eine Menge.
You stroll down the mountain and learn a lot.
Zum Beispiel darüber, was so alles in 333l Waldboden steckt.

Und was für Wurzelarten es gibt. (Und seht Ihr da am Abschluss die breiten Bretter? Auf denen darf man kritzeln 🙂 )

Auf jeden Fall war es ein sehr schöner Weg wieder hinunter in die Stadt.
In any case, it was a very nice walk back down to the town.
Es waren neben uns nur wenige Leute unterwegs, so hatten wir – und der Kerl hier – unsere Ruhe.
There were not many people about apart from us, so we – and this little guy here – had a peaceful time.
Wie wir wieder unten waren, sind wir noch ein bisschen durch den Kurpark flaniert – streng beobachtet von den Mufflons!
When we were back at the start, we did stroll a bit through the local park – under the severe gaze of the mouflons!
Und da der Tag noch jung war, haben wir dann kurzerhand entschieden, dass wir eine Runde Minigolf spielen!
And since the day was still young, we then decided on the spur of the moment that we would play a round of miniature golf!
Die Bahnen sind sehr schön – und durchaus nicht einfach.
The tracks are done very nicely – and are not exactly easy.
Und dass eine gewisse Kirsche am schlechtesten abschnitt, lag nur daran, dass sie ja dauernd Fotos machen musste! Und an diesem lila Ball!
And that a certain Kirsche ended up last of the group was only because she had to take photos all the time! And it was also because of this purple ball!
Naja, wir sind dann wieder zu Torbens Eltern nach Hause. Wir mussten uns um den Garten kümmern. Den Zaun reparieren (Torbens Eltern), die Blumen gießen (Torben) und was eben sonst noch so anstand. (Die Brombeeren werden ja nur alt und vertrocknen!)
Oh well, we then drove back to Torben’s parents‘ house. We had to take care of the garden. Repair the fence (Torben’s parents), water the plants (Torben) and whatever else needed doing. (The blackberries only get old and dry up if you leave them hanging!)
Dann war es Zeit für das Abendessen. Draußen im Garten, weil das Wetter so toll war. Und nicht nur wir hatten Hunger!
Then it was time for supper. Outside in the garden, because the weather was so nice. And it was not just us who was hungry!
