Heute sind wir sehr früh aufgestanden und nach Tarifa gefahren.
Today we got up very early and drove down to Tarifa.
Den Sonnenuntergang haben wir dann durch furchtbar dreckige Scheiben gesehen – vom Wartesaal vor Betreten der Fähre.
The sunrise we then saw through terribly dirty windows – from the waiting area before you can get on the ferry.
Irgendwann waren wir dann auf der Fähre und haben Tarifa verlassen.
Eventually we then got onto the ferry and left Tarifa.
Nach einer Stunde war dann Tanger in Sicht.
After one hour then, we could see Tangier.
Die Passkontrolle erfolgte auf der Fähre.
Passport control was taken care off on the ferry.
Und dann waren wir in Marokko, in Tanger!
And then we were in Morocco, in Tangier!
Als erstes haben wir uns die Festung Borj Dar El Baroud angesehen.
First of all we visited the fortification Borj Dar El Baroud.
Alles sehr toll gemacht, hier mit Modellen von Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt.
All very well done, here with models of the sights of the city.
Wie es sich für eine Festung gehört, gibt es eine Menge Kanonen zu sehen. (Hier Modell „Armstrong”)
As befits a fortification, many canons can be seen here. (Here type “Armstrong”)
Außer uns war die längste Zeit niemand zu sehen – na gut, fast.
Apart from us, for the longest time there was nobody else around – well, almost.
Über eine Stunde sind wir hier herumgelaufen.
Over an hour we walked around here.
Wie gesagt, man hat sich viel Mühe gegeben, das hier anschaulich zu vermitteln.
As I mentioned, they put much effort into bringing things across vividly.

Nach einem Film zum Abschluss sind wir dann durch die Gassen der Stadt.
After a movie in closing, we then started to walk through the alleys of the city.
Überall wird etwas verkauft, Lederwaren, Kleidung, Schmuck … aber die Händler waren nicht aufdringlich!
Everywhere there is something on sale, leather goods, clothing, jewellery … but the merchants were not intrusive!
Wir kamen an schönen Bauten vorbei …
We passed beautiful edifices …
… sind über einen Markt geschlendert …
… ambled across a market …
… und durch etliche schöne Tore.
… and through several nice arches.
Dann sind wir zur Mendoubia. Hier steht ein Banyanbaum, der 800 Jahre alt sein soll.
Then we went to the Mendoubia. Here you find a banyan tree that is supposed to be 800 years old.
Dies war früher der Palast des Mendoub, der den Sultan von Marokko in der internationalen Zone von Tanger vertrat, von 1924 – 1956 (mit einer Unterbrechung während des 2. Weltkriegs).
This used to be the palace of the Mendoub, who represented the Sultan of Morocco in the Tangier International Zone from 1924 to 1956 (with an interruption during World War II).
Vor dem Gebäude stehen zwei Kanonen.
In front of the building two cannons are set up.
Innen drin ist jetzt ein Museum.
Inside you now find a museum.
1956 wurde Marokko die Unabhängigkeit zugestanden.
1956 Morocco was given its independence.
Sehr interessant, wenn auch etwas schwierig zu folgen. Manche Exponate sind mit französischer Übersetzung bedacht, die meisten haben nur Text in arabischen Schriftzeichen.
Very interesting, if a bit difficult to follow. On some exhibits a French translation was added, but most of them only show text in Arabic writing.
Naja, den Kaiser haben wir erkannt 😊

Danach sind wir dann langsam zurück zum Hafen.
Afterwards we slowly walked back to the harbour.
Ach so, und nicht nur wir haben etwas zu essen gekriegt …
And by the way, not only we did get something to eat …
