Heute ist Abschied von Hawai’i. Also war das die letzte Chance, und wir haben sie ergriffen. Und: es hat geklappt. Als wir heute das dritte Mal bei den Rainbow Falls waren, kam die Sonne kurz raus! Regenbogen! Hurra!
Today we are leaving Hawai’i. So this was the very last chance, and we took it. And: it worked. When today we went to the Rainbow Falls for the third time, the sun came out for a bit! Rainbow! Hurray!
Dann sind wir von Hilo quer über die Insel nach Kona gefahren. Unterwegs haben wir uns die Kaumana Höhlen angesehen, spannend!
Then we drove once across the island, from Hilo to Kona. On the way we stopped to look at the Kaumana Caves, exciting!
Die erste Höhle (Fotos oben) war größer und sehr feucht. Die zweite (unten) niedriger, trocken, und man konnte Wasser fließen hören.
The first cave (photos above) was bigger and very wet. The second one (below) had a lower ceiling, was dry and you could hear water flow.
Unterwegs war es wieder total neblig:

Da haben wir uns etwas zu essen besorgt und sind damit dann zu „unserem“ Aussichtspunkt, wo wir die Wale gesehen hatten. Aber es war heute sehr diesig.
There we got ourselves something to eat, and with that we drove to „our“ lookout, where we had seen the whales. But today it was very misty there.
Ja, und dann sind wir zum Flughafen Kona samt zugehörigem Chaos …
Yes, and then we went to the airport of Kona, complete with its inherent chaos …
Der Flug nach Honolulu war dann ganz schnell vorbei, und jetzt sitzen wir im Flughafen von Honolulu und warten, dass es 23:30 wird … Morgen früh sind wir dann in Vancouver!
The flight to Honolulu was over real quick, and now we sit at the Honolulu airport and wait for 11:30 p.m. to roll around … Tomorrow morning we will be in Vancouver!
