Schön war es in Skansen, und es gab eine Menge zu sehen. Deswegen waren wir den ganzen Tag dort!
We had a great time in Skansen, and there was so much to see. Because of that we stayed the whole day!
Es gab auch eine Menge Tiere zu sehen. Rentiere zum Beispiel …
There were a lot of animals to see. Reindeer for example …
… und Elche. (Auch wenn der etwas unhöflich war und uns die Zunge herausgestreckt hat!)
… and elks. (Even though this one was a bit impolite and stuck out its tongue at us!)
Otter gab es – die dauernd weggetaucht sind 😉
Otter were about – which kept diving away 😉
Auch Weißrückenspechte gab es – ein sehr hübsches Tier. Bei dem Weibchen ist die der Kopf oben schwarz, beim Männchen rot.
There were also white-backed woodpeckers – a very beautiful animal. The female has a black crown, while the male has a red one.
Wir haben auch schöne Eulen gesehen, den Bartkauz zum Beispiel. Das Weibchen war in einem Gehege, das nicht einsehbar war – sie war nämlich am Brüten.
We also saw gorgeous owls, for example the great grey owl. The female was in an enclosure that we could not see – because she was breeding.
Dann mal was ohne Flügel: junge Braunbären. Bei denen standen wir lange.
Then something without wings: young brown bears. We spent a lot of time watching.
Die sind gerne ins Wasser gesprungen und dann pitschnass herumgelaufen …
They loved jumping into the water and then they ran around soaking wet …
… und sie hatten in ihrem Gehege eine Menge zum Herumklettern …
… and in their enclosure they had a lot to climb around on …
… und zum Spielen.
… and to play with.
Vielleicht war in den Eimern ja etwas zu Essen versteckt?
Maybe something to eat was hidden in the buckets?
Zwischen den Gehegen gab es auch immer mal wieder interessante Gebäude zu sehen:
Between the enclosures there happened to be interesting buildings to discover here and there:
Dieses Lagerhaus stand auf einem Gehöft in Telemark, Norwegen. – Moment! Hör ich Euch jetzt denken. Hast Du uns nicht erzählt, dass hier lauter schwedische Gebäude ausgestellt sind?
This storehouse stood on a farmstead in Telemark, Norway. – Hold on! I hear you think now. Didn’t you tell us that here all kinds of Swedish buildings are displayed?
Nun, als Skansen 1891 gegründet wurde, waren Schweden und Norwegen noch vereint.
Well, when Skansen was founded in 1891, Sweden and Norway were still united.
Aber zurück zu den Tieren. Natürlich durfte da auch ein Luchs nicht fehlen. Auch wenn er sich recht gut versteckt hat.
But back to the animals. Of course a lynx had to be among them. Even though it hid quite well.
Die Wildschweine haben sich dagegen nicht versteckt.
The wild pigs though did not hide.
Eher ganz im Gegenteil. – Ein bisschen schlecht drauf, vielleicht?
Quite the contrary. – A bit cross, maybe?
Hier haben wir dann die Bisons.

What noble animals!
Der Wolf war etwas verschlafen.
The wolf was a bit sleepy.
Dazwischen gab es natürlich auch Tiere, die nicht eingesperrt waren. Eine Drossel vielleicht?
In between of course there were also animals that were not locked in. A thrush, maybe?
Ach, und habe ich schon erwähnt, dass die Gänse sich überall herumgetrieben haben?
Oh, and did I mention that the geese were roaming around absolutely everywhere?
Wieder ein Gebäude: eine Malzdarre. Im unteren Stockwerk war ein Ofen, der das gekeimte Getreide, das auf Regalen auf dem Boden darüber ausgelegt war, trocknete.
And another building: a malt kiln. In the lower story there was a stove, which dried the germinated corn, that had been spread out on shelves on the floor above.
Am Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts wurden Finnen eingeladen, in Schweden, in Värmland, Dalarna und Hälsingland, zu siedeln.
At the end of the 16th century, Fins were invited to settle in Sweden, in Värmland, Dalarna and Hälsingland.
Ist es nicht toll, was diese Menschen alles geflochten haben?
Istn’t it great? All the braiding these people did?
Und dann wieder ein Vogel: Waldohreulen.
And then again a bird: eagle owls.
Dann mal ein Turm zur Abwechslung: Der Bredablick Turm, gebaut 1874-1876.
And then a tower for a change: the Bredablick tower, built 1874-1876.
Dann hätten wir noch alte Meilensteine zum Herzeigen. Der linke ist von 1766, der rechte ist noch hundert Jahre älter. Oben haben sie jeweils das Monogramm von König Adolf Friedrich und König Karl XI. Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts wurde beschlossen, dass an allen großen Straßen in Schweden Meilensteine aufgestellt werden sollten.
And then we have some old milestones to show you. The one on the left is from 1766, the one on the right is another 100 years older. At the top they have respectively the monogram of King Adolf Fredrik and King Karl XI. In the middle of the 17th century it was decreed that at all major roads in Sweden milestones should be set up.
Ach, und habe ich schon erwähnt, dass überall Gänse waren?
Oh, and did I mention that there were geese all around?
Hier seht Ihr eine alte Eisen-Mine, aus der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts.
Here you see an old iron mine, from the first half of the 18th century.
Und noch einmal ein paar Tierchen zum Abschluss. Da hatten ein paar sehr großen Durst!
And then some more animals in closing. A few little ones were extremely thirsty!
Ja, und dann waren wir schon wieder auf dem Weg zum Ausgang.
Yes, and then we were already on our way back to the exit.
Wir kamen noch an der alten Schmiede vorbei, doch die war leider zu.
We passed the old smithy, but unfortunately it was closed.

Dafür war diese Mühle von der Insel Öland interessant: Auf dem Unterbau kann man das Gebäude in den Wind drehen.
But this mill from the island Öland was interesting: on the supporting structure the building can be turned into the wind.
Hier ein kleines Sommerhäuschen, Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts, innen schön bemalt.
Here a small summerhouse, middle of the 18th century, beautifully painted on the inside.
Und jetzt sind wir schon ganz nah beim Ausgang. Und da haben wir was gehört. Ja, aus diesem Lüftungsgitter.
And now we are already very close to the exit. And there, we heard something. Yes, coming from this ventilation grid.
Da saßen doch glatt kleine Vögelchen drinnen!
Unbelievable: little birdies were sitting in there!
Und Mami ist rein und raus geflogen zum Füttern!
And Mum flew in and out to feed them!
Und jetzt sind wir wirklich draußen und wundern uns: wir wollten doch wieder die Straßenbahn nehmen, aber hier ist alles abgesperrt!
And now we really are outside and are puzzled: we had planned to once again take the tram, but everything is closed off!

Und dann noch mehr Reiter …
