Habe ich es schon erwähnt? Wahrscheinlich schon, und wahrscheinlich werde ich Euch noch ein paar weiter Male erzählen: Wir haben überall in Polen so viele schöne Fassaden gesehen, mit oft sehr interessanten Details:
Did I mention that already? Probably I have, and probably I will tell you the same stuff a few more times: All over Poland we have seen so many beautiful house fronts, often with very interesting details:
Eigentlich waren wir unterwegs zum nächsten Schloss … aber so schnell kamen wir da nicht hin, es gab ja unterwegs viel zu viel zu sehen. Zum Beispiel dieses Haus neben der Kirche des Heiligen Erlösers.
We were really on our way to the next castle … but we did not get there all that fast, there was so much to see on the way. For example this house next to the Church of the Holy Saviour.
Die Kirche selber war außen komplett mit Gerüsten umkleidet, daher muten wir Euch davon kein Foto zu. Wir sind aber natürlich auch hineingegangen:
The church itself was all enclosed by scaffolding on the outside, so we will not bother you with a picture of that. But of course we also went inside:
Die gotische Kirche wurde 1866-1869 gebaut. Sind die Fenster nicht wunderschön?

Auch die Decke war schön. Die Kirche war übrigens ursprünglich evangelisch-lutherisch, nach dem Ende des 2. Weltkriegs wurde sie vom Erzbistum Posen übernommen und ist damit jetzt römisch-katholisch.
The ceiling was also beautiful. By the way, the church was originally Lutheran, then after the end of the second world war, it was taken over by the archbishopric Poznan, and therefore now is Roman Catholic.
Das Collegium Maius der Adam-Mickiewicz-Universität haben wir als nächstes entdeckt. Gebaut 1905-1908 im Stil des wilhelminischen Barock, orientiert sich das Gebäude am Vorbild der Palastarchitektur.
The Collegium Maius of the Adam Mickiwicz University was our next discovery. Erected 1905-1908 in the style of Emperor Wilhelm Baroque, the building draws on palace architecture.

Den Innenraum schmückt eine monumentale Eingangshalle mit Galerien.
The interior features a monumental hall with a row of galleries.
Bis 1919 war hier der Sitz der Königlich Preußischen Ansiedlungskommission, die 1886 auf Anregung von Otto von Bismarck entstanden war. Ihr Zweck war es, durch den Ankauf polnischer Landgüter durch den preußischen Staat Gelände für die Ansiedlung der deutschen Bauern zu gewinnen.
Up until 1919 the building housed the Royal Prussian Settlement Commission, established 1886 on the initiative of Otto von Bismarck. Its purpose was to provide land where German farmers could settle, by buying up Polish estates by the Prussian state.
1920 wurde das Gebäude von der polnischen Regierung der Posener Universität übergeben.
In 1920 the Polish government presented the building to the University of Poznan.
Heute sind hier die Fakultät für polnische und klassische Philologie sowie das Rektorat der Medizinischen Universität untergebracht.
Today it houses the faculty of Polish and classical philology as well as the rector’s office of the University of Medical Sciences.

… schmückt ein Denkmal für die seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts in der sibirischen Verbannung verstorbenen oder in der sowjetischen Gefangenschaft in Katyn ermordeten Polen.
… is adorned by a memorial for the Poles who since the middle of the 19th century died in Siberian exile or were murdered in Katyn while imprisoned by the Soviets.
1905 wurde der Bau unter deutscher Herrschaft begonnen, und 1910 wurde das Schloss feierlich an Kaiser Wilhelm II übergeben.
Construction of the castle started in 1905 under German rule, and in 1910 the castle was ceremonially handed over to Emperor William II.
Zwischen den Weltkriegen diente es als Residenz des polnischen Staatspräsidenten.
Between the two world wars, it served as residence for the Polish president.
Und einige Räume wurden der Universität zur Verfügung gestellt.
And some rooms were made available to the university.
In den Mauern des Schlosses studierten unter anderem polnische Mathematiker, die den Code der deutschen Chiffriermaschine „Enigma“ entschlüsselten.
Among many others, those Polish mathematicians studied inside the walls of this castle, who decrypted the code of the German „Enigma“ cipher machine.
Während des zweiten Weltkrieges wurde das Innere des Schlosses weitgehend umgebaut, um als Residenz Hitlers dienen zu können (Hitler besuchte das Schloss aber nie).
During WWII the inside of the castle was extensively remodeled so that it could serve as residence for Hitler (nonetheless Hitler never visited the site).

Dieses Denkmal wurde am 28. Juni 1981 enthüllt, zum 25. Jahrestag des Posener Aufstandes.
This memorial was unveiled June 28, 1981, at the 25th anniversary of the Poznan uprising.
Damals hatten Arbeiter wegen ihrer Arbeitsbedingungen protestiert. Durch die Erhöhung von Quoten fielen zum Beispiel eigentlich erarbeitete Bonuszahlungen flach. Die Proteste wurden schließlich blutig niedergeschlagen, es gab mindestens 57 Tote und 600 Verletzte.
Back then workers had protested against harsh working conditions. Because of the raising of quotas for example, bonus payments that they would have achieved were denied. The protests were finally forcefully brought to an end, there were at least 57 dead and 600 wounded.

Of course we did go inside.
Hier gibt es eine große Aula, in der oft klassische Konzerte gegeben werden, aber wir haben gesehen, oder eher gehört, dass hier überall Musik zu finden ist. In den Gängen:
