Heute hätten wir auf Wal-Tour sein sollen … naja. Mittlerweile sind wir besorgt, ob wir es überhaupt bis nach Kanada schaffen. Man schraubt seine Ansprücher herunter. Also früh zum Flughafen, diesmal kam sogar das Taxi!
Today we were supposed to be whale watching … oh well. By now we are worried whether we will get to Canada at all. We minimize our expectations. So, to the airport in the morning, this time we even got a taxi!
Diesmal haben wir genau aufgepasst: Das ist mein Koffer, der da eingeladen wird, es wird ernst!
This time we paid close attention: this is my suitcase on its way into the plane, we are getting there!
In München waren wir um elf … um 16:10 ist der Flug nach Kanada. Aber in der Lounge haben wir die Zeit gut überstanden, und dann durften wir tatsächlich in den Flieger, ein A350 names „Braunschweig“. Wir waren zwar 40 Minuten zu spät, weil all die Papiere sehr gründlich geprüft wurden, aber immerhin, wir sind drin!
At eleven we were in Munich … our flight for Canada will be at 4:10 pm. But in the lounge we managed to waste away the hours, and then they actually let us into the plane, a A350 named „Braunschweig“ (Brunswick). We were 40 minutes late, because all the papers got checked very diligently, but at least, we are inside the plane!
Wir haben einen Film geschaut, gelesen, versucht zu schlafen … und zwischendrin aufgepasst, als wir über Grönland geflogen sind.
We watched a movie, read, tried to sleep … and in between paid attention when we flew across Greenland.
Um es kurz und knapp zu sagen: wir haben Vancouver erreicht!
To make it short: we reached Vancouver!
Aber damit war es ja nicht getan, wir müssen ja noch rüber nach Vancouver Island. Also erst wieder Dokumenten-Kontrolle, das ging ganz schnell. Dann auf die Koffer warten – kamen beide an, super! Als nächstes dann den Mietwagen holen und ab nach Horseshoe Bay, wo die Fähre ablegt. Wir sind immer wieder ganz nah gekommen aber nie ans Ziel … trotz der Kanadakarte im Navi, die wir extra heruntergeladen hatten. Naja, bei der Fußgängerabfertigung hab ich dann eine Karte gekriegt und den Rat: nicht aufs Navi hören!
But with that we were not done, after all we have to get over to Vancouver Island. So first of all again a check of our documents, that went quite fast. Then we waited for our suitcases – both had made it, great! Next then we went to get our rental car and then off we went towards Horseshoe Bay, where the ferry leaves. We kept getting rather close, but never quite made it… even though we had a Canada map in our satnav, which we had downloaded at home. Oh well, at the foot passenger access I then got a little map and the advice: do not believe the GPS!
Hurrah! Da müssen wir hin. Nach einer halben Stunde im-Auto-dösen gings auf die Fähre, da haben wir dann wieder im Wagen geschlafen, Mitternacht haben wir angelegt. Dann nochmal zwei Stunden fahren nach Campbell River, wo das Navi unser Hotel auch nicht finden wollte … aber um zwei waren wir dann endlich, endlich im Bett. Geschafft!
Hurray! That is where we need to go. After half an hour of dozing inside the car we drove onto the ferry, where we then napped again, inside the vehicle, and at midnight we landed. Then another two hours of driving to Campbell River, where the GPS did not want to find our hotel either … but at two we were finally, finally in bed. We made it!
