Good morning!
Heute haben wir uns in Hilo einen Park angesehen, der uns empfohlen wurde: Lili‘uokalani Gardens.
Today we checked out a park in Hilo that had been recommended to us: Lili’uokalani Gardens.
Ein sehr schöner japanischer Park.
A really gorgeous Japanese park.
Hier hätten wir auch ohne Probleme den ganzen Tag herumsitzen können …
Here we just as well could have sat around all day without any trouble …
Aber wir mussten uns ja umsehen. Spannende Fischleins …
But of course we had to look around. Interesting little fishes …
… und jede Menge Vögel.
… and loads of birds.
Sogar Nene haben wir wieder gesehen!

Achtung, da landet eine Taube.

Einmal über die Straße kann man dann über die Brücke rüber auf die kleine Insel „Coconut Island“ gehen.
Once across the street you can then walk across the bridge over to the little island “Coconut Island”.
Hier kommt man für Picknicks, zum Schwimmen etc. Aber man kann auch schön rüber auf die Hauptinsel sehen, komplett mit Mauna Kea.
Here you come for picnics, to go swimming etc. But you can also take a nice look across at the main island, complete with Mauna Kea.

Ihr seht schon, wir haben diese Ecke von Hilo ausgiebig genossen. Danach waren wir einkaufen und haben dann beim Bed & Breakfast gegessen. Anschließend wollten wir zum Lava Tree State Monument, hatten aber die Ausfahrt verpasst und wollten hier drehen:
As you can see, we really enjoyed this corner of Hilo. Afterwards we went shopping and then ate at the Bed & Breakfast. Subsequently we wanted to drive to the Lava Tree State Monument, but we missed the exit and wanted to turn around here:
Tja, als wir letztes Mal hier waren, ging die Straße noch weiter! Wir haben uns das angesehen und dann einen schnellen Blick geworfen auf die „Lava Trees“. Diese Skulpturen entstehen da, wo die Lava Bäume umschlossen hat.
Well, when we had last been here, the street had gone further! We took a look at this, and then quickly checked out the “lava trees”. These sculptures are formed where the lava enclosed trees.
Auf jeden Fall hatten wir jetzt ja offensichtlich die Region gefunden, wo 2018 die Lava über das Land geflossen ist. Also sind wir hier noch ein bisschen herumgefahren. Der hier fährt nicht mehr … Der rosa Zettel ist eine Verwarnung und droht eine Geldstrafe an. Nur: wem?
In any case we had now obviously found the region where 2018 the lava flowed across the land. So we drove around a bit here. This one will not drive anywhere anymore … The pink slip is a warning and threatens with a fine. But: whom?
Uns interessiert ja sowieso die Lava mehr.
We are anyhow more interested in the lava.
Hier ist dann wohl der Boden weggebrochen.
Here I guess the ground just dropped down.
Genug Lava geschaut! Wir sind dann zum Richardson Ocean Park.
Enough lava looked at! We then went on to the Richardson Ocean Park.
Ich durfte nochmal schnorcheln …
I got to go snorkeling once more …
Und wir waren mittags doch einkaufen? Da haben wir uns eine kleine Kamera gekauft, die bis zu 10 Fuß (ca. 3m) wasserdicht ist.
And at noon we had been shopping, right? That is when we bought a little camera that is waterproof up to 10 feet (ca. 3m).
Aber das Licht ist schon nicht mehr so toll ☹
But the lighting is not all that great anymore ☹
Doch es war trotzdem einfach nur schön! Hab ich eigentlich mal erwähnt, dass der schwarze Sand sehr anhänglich ist?
Still, it was once again just wonderful! By the way, did I ever mention that the black sand is very clingy?
Jetzt haben wir aber Hunger! Wir hatten Glück und haben im „Pineapples“ noch zwei Plätze gekriegt.
But now we are hungry! We were lucky and managed to secure two seats at the “Pineapples”.
Wir haben bei Live-Musik lecker gegessen.
We had a delicious meal, accompanied with live music.
