So, heute nachmittag um fünf gehts wieder nach Bremen. Aber davor wollen wir uns noch eine Menge ansehen. Zuerst gehts nochmal in die Kathedrale.

Denn wir hatten gelesen, dass hier eine Nachbildung der Bundeslade steht. Diese Engel-gekrönte Truhe hatten wir beim letzten Besuch übersehen.
Because we had read that here you can see a replication of the ark of the covenant. This chest crowned with angels we had overlooked during our last visit.
Wir sind dann auch mal um die Kathedrale herumgelaufen – sie ist von überall schön 😊

Schon zu Hause hatte ich gelesen, dass das Couriot – Musée de la Mine, das Bergbaumuseum in St. Etienne sehr interessant ist.

Wir sind alles abgelaufen, was wir betreten durften – leider darf man die unterirdische Mine nur nachmittags betreten, wieder ein Grund, warum wir wiederkommen müssen.

Hier ein Modell, das zeigt, wie die Anlage um 1955 herum aussah. Die Grube und zwei Abraumhalden nahmen ungefähr 20 Hektar ein. 1500 Minenarbeiter waren hier angestellt.

In einem Schaukasten kann man die verschiedenen Gesteinsarten sehen. Hier Glanzkohle – die Art Kohle, die hauptsächlich in Wärmekraftwerken genutzt wird.
In a display case you can see the different types of rock. Here anthracite – the main coal type used in thermal power stations.
Vom Gestein zum Handwerkszeug: Hier waren die Helme und Kleidung der Arbeiter aufgehängt.
From the rocks to the tools of the trade: Here the helmets and clothing of the miners were hung up.
Und hier wurden die Pfandmarken platziert. Jeder Arbeiter hatte eine, die die gleiche Nummer zeigte, die auch auf seiner Lampe und seinem Korb stand. Die Form der Marken ergab sich aus der Schicht, zu der gearbeitet wurde: Rund für den Morgen, quadratisch für den Nachmittag und dreieckig für die Nachtschicht.
And here the tokens were placed. Each miner had one, which showed the same number as could be found on his lamp and his basket. The shape of the tokens resulted from the shifts at which the miners worked: Round for the morning, square for the afternoon and triangular for the night shift.

Wir sind dann durch die Hallen mit riesigen Maschinen gelaufen …

… und konnten über einen erhöhten Weg hier rüber zum Förderturm gehen.
