Gestern haben wir Wellington morgens verlassen. Das erste Stück Weg ging am Meer entlang, wunderschön!
Yesterday morning we left Wellington. The first part of our way we drove along the coast, gorgeous!
Und nach etlichen Stunden Fahrt haben wir den ersten Blick auf Mount Taranaki erhascht. Der Grund, warum wir nach New Plymouth gefahren sind.
And after several hours of driving, we caught the first glimpse of Mount Taranaki, which is the reason why we drove to New Plymouth in the first place.
Aber zuerst hatten wir Hunger. Also haben wir in Stratford gehalten. Da dreht sich alles um Shakespeare, wegen der Namens-Vetternschaft zu Statford-upon-Avon. Die Straßennamen wurden aus Shakespeare-Stücken gewählt… Und im Zentrum des Ortes gibt es einen Glockenturm.
But first we were hungry. So we stopped in Stratford. There everything is about Shakespeare, because of the similarity of the town’s name with Stratford-upon-Avon. The street names were chosen from Shakespeare plays … And in the center of town, there is a clock tower.
Und in dem gibt es ein Glockenspiel. Das erste und einzige in Neuseeland, und die Figuren, die man sehen kann, sind Romeo und Julia – wer sonst.
And in that there is a glockenspiel. The first and only one in New Zealand, and the characters that you can see there are Romeo and Juliet – who else.
Um zehn, eins, drei und sieben kann man das sehen. Und wir waren genau kurz vor eins da. Wir haben so ein Glück! Dass wir diese spannende Stadt für unser Mittagessen ausgesucht haben, und dass wir zur richtigen Zeit da waren. – Und das Glück hat uns in New Plymouth gleich wieder heimgesucht. Da haben wir gleich erfahren, dass gerade das Licht-Festival stattfindet. Und auf dem Weg dahin, was sehen wir?
At ten, one, three and seven you can see this. And we were there right on time close to one. We are so lucky! That we chose this interesting town for our lunch, and that we got there just in time. – And our luck struck again in New Plymouth. There the first thing we found out was that the festival of lights is taking place these days. And on our way to see that, what do we spot?
Tolle Autos. Hier findet nämlich auch gerade das „Bikes, BBQ and Hot Cars“ statt. Da gibt es alte Wägen, aber auch recht moderne …
Great cars. Because right now the „Bikes, BBQ and Hot Cars“ is also taking place. There are vintage cars around, but also quite modern ones …
Und dann sind wir endlich noch zum Licht-Festival.
And then we finally got to the festival of lights.
Wunderschön! Es gab viel zu sehen … wir haben nicht alles geschafft.
Wonderful! There was so much to see … we did not manage all.
Um elf waren wir endlich wieder im Hotel … und müde!!!
At eleven we were finally back in our hotel … and so tired!!!
