Weil es gestern abend ja sehr spät wurde, sind wir heute erst um kurz nach elf los. Aber auch da hat das Thermometer beim Laden um die Ecke schon 30° gezeigt … Also sind wir als erstes ans Wasser.
Since it got very late last night, we did not leave today until shortly after eleven. But even then, the thermometer at the shop around the corner already showed 30° … So our first destination was near water.
Die Kanäle, navigli, wurden im Mittelalter angelegt. Nur zwei gibt es hier im Viertel noch: Den Naviglio Grande, an dem immer wieder so ein rosa Männchen auftaucht, und den Naviglio Pavese, den Napoleon bauen ließ, damit die Materialien für den Dombau noch besser transportiert werden konnten.
The channels, navigli, were constructed in the Middle Ages. Only two of them are left in this quarter: The Naviglio Grande, where time and again a pink man pops up, and the aviglio Pavese, which Napoleon had built, so that the material for the construction of the cathedral could be transported even better.

Dann sind wir zurück zur Kirche Sant’Eustorgio, deren Anfänge bis ins 4. Jahrhundert zurück gehen. Hier lagern die Gebeine der heiligen drei Könige … heißt es.

Hier gibt es soviel zu sehen: Gemälde aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, tolle Decken, Skulpturen und, und, und … gekrönt von interessanten Lichtspielen in vielen Fenstern.

An einer anderen Wand sind nur Reste der Malerei erhalten. Hier seht Ihr den „Biscione“. Ursprünglich von den Visconti im Wappen geführt, wurde er zum Symbol Mailands. Man sieht ihn in Mailand überall … und man sieht ihn auch andernorts: Auf dem Logo von Alfa Romeo (früher „Alfa Milano“!).

Die ältesten Teile dieses Mosaiks sind aus dem 6. bis 8. Jahrhundert. – Wir hatten leider nicht so viel Zeit, uns alles anzusehen. Um sechs begann die Messe, da mussten wir natürlich gehen.
