Okay, today is leftover day. And would you know it, we even manage to finally ride on one of the old trams!
Bahn 1803, das heißt, das ist eine der Serie Ventotto (1501 – 2002 sind die Nummern). Die wurden hergestellt zwischen 1927 und 1930. Das heißt, dass sie alle von Anfang an rechts fahren durften, die Umstellung vom Linksverkehr fand 1926 statt.
Tram 1803, that means it is one of the Ventotto series (the numbers are 1501 – 2002). Those were produced between 1927 and 1930. That means that they all got to run on the right side from the start, the change from left hand traffic was done in 1926.
Die Höchstgeschwindigkeit dieses Modells ist übrigens 42 km/h.

Und wo sind wir hin? Mal wieder zum Hauptbahnhof.
And where did we go? Once again to the main station.
Aber dieses Mal raus zu den Gleisen, überspannt von diesen schönen Bögen. Der mittlere, höchste Teil mit dem grünen Glas bei den „offenen Fenstern“, dann jeweils rechts und links mit gelbem Glas etwas niedrigere Bögen, dann ganz außen jeweils noch niedrigere. Das Ganze überspannt eine Breite von 200 m.
But this time out to the tracks, spanned by these beautiful arches. The middle one, which is the highest, with the green glass around the “open windows”, then to the left and right with yellow glass arches that are a bit lower, and then on the outer edges even lower arches. The whole spans a width of 200 m.

Übrigens war es gar nicht so einfach, bei den Gleisen herumzulaufen. Erst wollte ich zwischen 17 und 18 hoch, wurde aber erst von einem Bahnmitarbeiter angehalten und informiert, dass ich da nicht hindürfte … Und wie ich dann so lange mit ihm diskutiert hatte, dass er aufgab und theatralisch die Augen veschloss … Wurde ich beim zweiten Versuch gleich von der nächsten Truppe zurückgepfiffen. Meine Güte!
By the way, it was not all that easy to run around near the tracks. First I wanted to walk up between 17 and 18, but was first stopped by a station employee and informed that I was not allowed to walk here … And once I had disputed this with him long enough, so that he gave up and theatrically closed his eyes … I was loudly called back by the next group when I tried it a second time. My oh my!

Also haben wir uns in die Tiefen der U-Bahn begeben. Bei der Linie 5 kann man schön auf die Gleise schauen.

Wir sind dabei ganz entspannt geblieben … das geht auch ohne Zigarette 😊

Wir sind hier, um von außen einen Blick auf eines der Iglu-Häuser werfen. 12 davon wurden 1946 von Ingenieur Mario Cavalle gebaut, heute stehen noch acht. Auf zwei Stockwerken hat man 50 m² Wohnfläche …

Wo Iglus stehen, ist es kalt, da lässt man sich besser einen dichten Bart stehen! 😊

Das Castello Pozzi, gebaut 1929, ist für sich genommen schon ganz nett …

… aber auf der anderen Seite steht doch glatt ein Kartenhaus! Eine Kunstinstallation, die wohl schon eine Weile steht, die Farben auf den Karten sind recht verblichen.

Wir sind dann noch an einem schönen Brunnen vorbeigekommen: Dieser größte Brunnen der Stadt „Fontana delle Quattro Stagioni“ wurde 1927 fertiggestellt, doch 1943 wurden die vier Figuren, die die Jahreszeiten darstellen, von Bomben zerstört. 1953 wurden neue aufgestellt.
We then happened to come by a pretty fountain: This largest fountain of the city “Fontana delle Quattro Stagioni” was finished in 1927, but 1943 the four sculptures that represent the seasons, were destroyed by bombs. 1953 new ones were set up.
Ja, und das wars dann so ziemlich … Morgen gehts heim, also haben wir heute nochmal nett gegessen. Da hat auch jemand Hunger, so wie es aussieht!
Yes, and that was it pretty much … Tomorrow we travel back home, so today we went out for a nice supper once more. And it looks as if somebody is hungry!
