Heute gibt es erst mal nur einen Programmpunkt, mal sehen, ob wir danach noch etwas schaffen: Houston Space Center.

Da das Gelände riesig ist, wird man mit kleinen Trams herumgefahren. Also zum „Bahnhof“, wo dieses tolle Bild wartet:

Dann waren wir bei der „Space Vehicle Mockup Facility“ (Raumfahrzeug-Übungsmodell-Gebäude). Hier eine Menge ISS und ein Ausschnitt, der ahnen lässt, wie groß der Raum ist.

Und Orion – damit soll es wieder zum Mond gehen.

… haben wir mit Orion gleich weitergemacht.

Wir haben gelernt, dass Orion viel sicherer ist als alles, was es bisher gab … bestimmt ist eine geheime Zutat „alle müssen gestreifte Socken tragen“! So kriegen wir das hin mit dem Mond!
We learned that Orion is much much safer than all that came before … most probably one secret ingredient is “all must wear striped socks”! That way we will get this thing managed with the moon!
Und wenn jetzt jemand denkt … hm, hab was von einem Flug zum Mond gehört, aber das hieß doch Artemis! Genau, das ist das Programm, mit der Orion-Kapsel.
And if now one of you thinks … hm, I did hear something about a flight to the moon, but that was called Artemis, wasn’t it? Exactly, that is the program, with the Orion capsule.
Auch die Raumanzüge werden besser. Sie haben bis zu 14 Lagen!
And the space suits also get ever better. They have up to 14 layers!

Wir mussten auf unsere zweite Tour: Apollo Mission Control Tour. Schon beim ersten Mal kamen wir bei den Longhorns vorbei, die auch zur NASA-Familie gehören.
We had to get to our second tour: Apollo Mission Control Tour. When we were out first time, we had already passed the longhorns, which are also part of the NASA family.
Jetzt haben wir erfahren, dass das Gelände auch ein Schutzgebiet für Wildtiere ist. Es gibt sogar einen Alligator „Meco“ (=Main Engine Cut Off = Hauptmotor abgeschaltet), aber den haben wir nicht gesehen.
Now we learned that the area is also a refuge for wild animals. There is even an alligator here, “Meco” (=Main Engine Cut Off), but we did not see it.
Aber wir sind ja unterwegs zur ersten Mondlandung!

Wir saßen im Original-Besucherraum und haben in die Kontrollstation hineingeschaut, während die echten Aufnahmen liefen.
We sat in the original visitors’ room and looked into the mission control center, while the true recordings were run.
Wir haben zugesehen, wie genau festgehalten wurde, wo die Astronauten wann waren.
We watched as they tracked precisely where the astronauts were at all times.
Der Raum ist das Original, wir saßen auf den echten (uralten!) Sitzen im Besucherraum …
The room is the original, we sat on the true (terribly old!) seats in the visitors’ area …
… und auch die richtigen Requisiten waren am Platz.

Es war aufregend und viel zu schnell vorbei!
It was exciting and over much too fast!
Und wir sind schon auf unserer dritten Tour!

Also Abflug. Toll war es, aber man muss zweimal herkommen, um alles zu sehen!

Wir müssen auch irgendwann mal was essen, aber nicht hier.
